"Made to feel very welcome by friendly, polite and professional check-in staff. My room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. I didn’t eat dinner, but did have a drink in the bar where a good range of drinks, and food was available. The outdoor garden area was spacious, and indoor very pleasant with good music at just the right level two. All in all a very pleasant overnight stay and I will be happy to return at some point in the future."

"After Expedia booked us into a 'Standard Room' instead of the room we paid much more for, we queried this with the hotel reception, who only had Expedia's information. They very kindly upgraded free us to an excellent room, for which we are extremely grateful. The room had excellent facilities and a magnificent view. Breakfast was good, although I have had better, but there was plenty of choice, The Fat Badger bar was very nice, although the drinks prices were extortionate, (I heard one customer asking the barman where his mask was). All in all, having stayed in other hotels in Whitby, this would my hotel of choice, mainly due to the friendly and helpful staff and refurbished decor and facilities. Expedia, however have still yet to get back to me, after a disrupted phone call while we were at the hotel, to explain why we paid more to them than they paid the hotel."

"Very pleased with the room, which was large enough and very quiet (back facing). The WIFI connection was fast enough and the hotel location very central. The b'fast was good and the staff very obliging. I would book this again."

"Overall the room was clean however there was a hair on the pillow? The rest of the room and bathroom seemed to be clean. The usual frustration of completing pre check in online information before you arrive, but when you check in you are asked to provide your check out date before a key card is issued. Why!"

"Parking you have to pay extra for. A king room with sofa bed will mean you get the quieter top floor. Great for business travel. Can make own meals or grab a beer and something to eat downstairs."

"We stayed for 2 nights and had an amazing stay, the room was so clean and well maintained with everything we needed. The instructions were also very clear regarding check in/out and parking. We would definitely recommend and would choose argyle house when back in Whitby. Thank you for a lovely stay!"

"Lovely cottage tucked away off the main street, over 4 floors (no you can't shout the person on the 4th floor, we tried but then my teenager has selective hearing at best of times!)Very clean and tidy 2 mins to 1st pub and 5 mins to beach 2nd pub.Directions and instructions from host very clear, tv's in all rooms and wifi.Nice little yard at the front so the dogs could be nosey.Enjoyed our visit to very much."

"Excellent location on seafront. Free parking. Lovely staff. Nice bar and food available. Stayed here many times - usually excellent but disappointed with room this time. Adequate but basic looked out onto wall opposite, very dark Unfortunately next to noisy kitchen ventilation fan which was on most of time but turned off late evening. Would definitely recommend but avoid room 8"
