"We had a very lovely stay this past weekend (21-22 march) just for one night. We were overall impressed with the holiday inn - especially the friendly staff, the free breakfast buffet (great variety), the pool was nice and warm, and we had a lovely relaxing stay.
The bed was also massive and very comfortable. We couldn’t figure out the temperature of the room very well so maybe ask for an extra blanket if it feels a bit cold. Our room had a bath (and shower) which was nice for warming up. We got room service which was very quick and convenient. The hotel was pretty quiet and had a relaxed atmosphere. "
"Beautiful old hotel in an excellent location for the city centre! We stayed in the Surlingham junior suite and the room was big and so full of character we absolutely loved it! The staff were so friendly and helpful and we would totally recommend staying here!"
" Located in an attractive inner suburb about 15-20 mins walk from the city centre. Buses run quite frequently along Newmarket Road nearby. My room had both bath and shower, always with hot water. Room heating was about right. The room looked over the car park but my window had both a blind and a thick curtain. Full English breakfast was very filling. Communal areas were pleasant."
"We stayed in the king room with bath/shower, which was upstairs overlooking the lovely rear garden. The property is well presented, warm, comfortable, clean and quiet. Bed was comfy, fresh towels and a kettle with tea/coffee etc provided. Breakfast was delicious, pre-ordered the night before, so fresh and beautifully cooked and served. Hosts are extremely attentive, organised, friendly and helpful. Parking at the front of the property off of the road which was ideal. Main entrance to the rooms is separate to the main house to the side of the building. The Black Horse pub is just a few minutes walk away. Walking into the centre is @ 15-18 mins along Earlham Road, head towards the Cathedral (8-10 mins) & take the footpath bridge opposite over the main road into the outskirts of town, then its 5 or so mins to the centre. A taxi cost us £10 one way. Would definitely recommend and will come back again."
"It is difficult to find the entrance to the hotel and you are expected to park five minutes away and drag your bags up and down a hill which is not great if you have accessibility issues.
The noise of the shower room ventilation was very intrusive. We did not sleep well - the pillows were enormous and we were woken up by carousing students several times.
Would not stay again."
"We stayed in a family room. All was OK but the door lock prevented us exiting the room as we tried to check out! We had to exit by unbolting the double door."
