Great hotel!
The Italian receptionist is very professional, friendly, and helpful. The room is very comfortable, and so is the bathroom. We enjoy our stay!

Appallling small room / understaffed hotel
Twin room is so small that it was difficult to move about, let alone having space for suitcases. The toilet is painfully small too. No bell and concierge service. They charge you for water after the first bottle and yet there is wine (not for everyone I'm afraid) in the room. No curtain in the room and the morning sun leaks through the shutters. A strange setup under a chain of eight hotels. I will NEVER stay there again. Not worth the money spent. The Royal Marriott would be a much better choice in terms of room and location.

Lovely hotel in a great location for shopping theatre and restaurants and bars, all within 5/10 minutes walk. Spa facilities were good although with very low ceilings, which felt a bit claustrophobic. Our twin room was lovely, not huge but had everything we needed with very comfortable beds.

Nice room. Shame about the shower experience
The shower against the window was unpleasant, especially as the window blind was damp and dirty. We also expected to have the small spa to ourselves since we had to book by the hour. Instead it was very busy. The room itself was awkward to find with no signage to help. Once inside it was nicely decorated and the bed was comfy.

Really disappointed with room we were given it was extremely small it was like an attic room no natural light extremely dark very hot as we couldn’t open the windows felt extremely claustrophobic in the room. Are friends also stayed there room was same price but so much bigger really lovely with a bathroom 3 times the size. Was very disappointed in our room. Spa was really lovely and hotel nice just our room was not good at all.

We were upgraded which was very nice. Rooms very good but safe deposit box out of reach for someone 5ft2ins otherwise excellent. There were two issues the difficulty accessing the hotel because of pedestrian area. There was no separate bar/lounge to sit and have a drink we had to use part of dining room. Would definitely stay there again. Staff were very good

Not as good as before
A few poor elements here. Breakfast never referenced by anyone. If it isn't something the hotel do, that should be mentioned. Could not use pool on arrival - had to book in advance and pay. This wasn't the case on previous stays. Poor to not be able to have a swim. Kettle in room was bust. Beer in one of the bars was poor. Gladly replaced, but the draught was in a bad way. All that said, it was a comfortable room and the hotel is very attractive and very well situated in central Bristol

A bit disappointing
It was ok. A few annoyances, I had paid more for a deluxe room but I wasn’t told it was a disabled access room, I wouldn’t have minded but the chair apparatus in the shower was dirty and rusty. Also there were hairs in the shower and the sink didn’t have a plug and was black and mouldy inside. The bathroom extractor fan didn’t work and the hand cream dispenser was empty, and complementary gin in the room but nowhere to get ice and no tonic! Spa was ok but obviously having problems with the heating as showers and steam room weren’t working and the hot tub wasn’t at temperature - but i still had to pay full price. Also the receptionist insisted on me providing a card for any extras at check in, which was a pain as I didn’t have one with me (I had prepaid) so I had to call my husband to provide his card details, but when I checked out they asked for a card anyway and didn’t even use the one I had provided! The hotel in general was ok but quite dirty especially on the stairs and a bit worn in places. The gold bar was nice though and bed was comfy, but overall not what I would expect for a deluxe room in a four star hotel.

Nice hotel with clean room. It was a bit of a maze to get to room. Hotel is on quite a busy street for nightlife so it was quite a rowdy walk back! Otherwise a very central location. Be aware that the use of the spa and breakfast are not included in price!

I was really shocked and disappointed by my stay at this hotel. I had often looked at it and thought how lovely it looked, the room I got certainly was not. The expectation I had based on the photos was a small but functional room with a splash of colour and a window. The reality was a small bland white room that the bed (two singles of differing heights smooshed together) just fits into. There is a tv but i really don't think they make them that small any more, and the robes are small, worn with frayed edges. The bed is situated below a heavily wooden blinded piece of coated glass, you can't see out and air has no danger of getting in! Through the night it doesn't get dark because of the light right outside and it is noisy (from goodness knows what), yet morning comes and you get minimal natural light from the coated windows and thick wooden planks. The drains in the bathroom stink, so you don't have to worry about not getting late check out because you will want to get out as soon as you can. The bathroom itself wouldn't be too bad if it was cleaned, get a bit of mould magic on that grouting! The toiletries are not the white company products pictured on the site but the big reusable bottles of unknown brand caged in, with crusty bits on the output spouts and hairs on the bottles themselves, just vile! As you make your hasty escape in the morning be careful to avoid the room service trays that have been sat on the floor for at least 12 hours. In summary ... not good!

Amenities and location were great. Bed was very comfy too. The room I was in had single glazing and was cold and my room was not serviced on the first day. But, I would stay again.

Would not recommend - not a good stay
Terrible stay, the heating/aircon system was so loud all night I could barely sleep. Booked the hotel for 3 nights but checked out after the first due to this. Also, the decor is very old and the room small.

On the plus side, great location and comfortable room. On the minus, it was impossible to turn off the heating inside so very hot overnight, and a terrible smell in the corridor outside (this was just one small bit of corridor mostly it smelt ok!). Also we booked through Expedia, where a lot is made of the 'full service spa' but it is less obvious that an additional charge is payable to use it.. yes it is in the small print (I see now) but in the spirit of transparent pricing perhaps this could be made a bit more visible? Otherwise, a good enough stay at the last-minute rate we paid.. but I wouldn't want to pay much more!

If you stay at this hotel you will need to take ear plugs as you will not get any sleep, The bars and restaurants around the hotel are serviced during the night. That means that between the hours of midnight and 6am you will hear beer barrels being collected/delivered, the nerve jarring sound of of glass bottles being tipped into recyling bins, then emptied again when the council turn up to take them away, and constant refuse collections. Apparently due to limited access restrictions on Corn Street and surrounding roads, these deliveries and collections all take place during the night. It is a shame because the hotel is in a prime location for exploring Bristol and the harbour. The hotel itself is aware of the noise issues but there is nothing they can do about it, Other than install triple glazing, which is unlikely, they can only offer their apologies to guests for the noise pollution.

The ability to get directly down to Spa in flip-flops is a plus. There is a cosy cocktail bar at the back for guests. Good restaurants and a lively market close by. Our room was some 6 meters high, but the layout was a bit odd. The large bathroom was a plus. Sadly A/C was a bit too loud so we had to switch it off for the night. The room had a minibar, hairdryer, safe, flip-flops, kettle, coffee maker, bathrobes, towels, a flask of gin. The bed was super comfortable.

Hotel layout is a bit strange —- lots of different staircases, turns and service elevator to get to our room. Would not be very doable for older guests. The reception team was amazing. However upon check out, only 1 receptionist was working which seemed unfair to her. Seems like it advertised itself to be slightly more upscale than it is. Room itself was fine, comfy bed…but somehow it felt more like a B&B atmosphere in terms of attention to detail and customer experience. Getting to and from my room I had to walk through either a restaurant or a ballroom….then a maze of stairs and lifts…. This is not a big deal, but…it wasn’t relaxing or comfortable. We ordered in delivery - would have happily tipped staff to bring it up to the room - but only 1 receptionist was working and there was no one else around. So I had to do the maze…in my pjs and bathrobe to get it…. Not bad, but not great. It was decent enough for what we paid, but I expected more and likely won’t stay there again.
