“The first thing to note is the drive up to the hotel—it’s very bumpy and uneven. If you’re driving, it’s best to take it slow, and ideally use a rental car you don’t mind putting through rough terrain. During our stay, we ran into a few issues with the staff, mainly around excursions being booked incorrectly and some basic questions not being answered clearly. “We loved staying at Chachagua and would highly recommend it to anyone considering. The property is sprawling, with so much available onsite to enjoy. We took advantage of the coffee and chocolate tour, the cooking class, and the night tour on property. All were excellent. “The Retreat is gorgeous. The views of the Volcano and Lake are amazing. The pescatarian menu is perfect for vegetarians and pescatarians. All three meals are served. We did not have meals included but very much enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. The pocket sized gathering places are charming - slider over looking lake, dining room and reception, the separate lounge area with tea and coffee looking into the jungle. The evening walk was fun.
