"Very quirky. It’s a marmite property, love it or hate it. We loved it staying in this renovated property that had many of its original features. Most rooms were on the ground floor overlooking a square courtyard. Unfortunately we had to climb some steel stairs to our spacious old fashioned room which was difficult with my disabilities. We would though go again because of its uniqueness."

"From the minute we set foot in the door, we were made to feel welcome. The staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for them at any hour. The food was delicious for the 4 breakfasts and 3 evening meals we ate there. I would stay at Purdy Lodge again and I'd suggest it to anyone who is planning on visiting Northumberland. Although, the hotel was literally on the A1, there was very little noise at the back of the hotel where we stayed. The hotel was ideally situated for local sites/towns of interest including Bamburgh, Seahouses, Alnwick etc. We would definitely advise others to visit the Purdy Lodge and would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for making our 10th anniversary holiday amazing."

The Garden Rooms

"As soon as we arrived, it was pretty clear where we needed to go to check in. We were in awe with the place, such detail and characteristics. We would definitely recommend visiting Newton Hall for its bar and with reception inside that was 24hours, there was always someone on hand for any questions you may have had. The room/ cabin itself was pretty nice and had all essentials you need to store milk in little fridge or make a brew. The room and the bathroom were very clean and loved the attention to detail with charm and character. You could even buy a s’mores kit while using a small safe fire outside which we did under a blanket of stars. The place was local to seaside, some cafes and restaurants and food is delicious. If you are driving I’d recommend the tourist places like Alnwick and seaside for fish and chips. Food can buy pricey though in your typical tourist hotspots so be mindful of this. If staying at the cabin bit, there are nice walks and wildlife surrounding the area which is nice to see, hot tubs are a must if relaxing and the staff are very friendly and helpful if needed. After the amazing experience we had, we’d definitely go back and explore other areas in Northumberland."

"The property is in a lovely setting and as the sun was shining we enjoyed an evening glass of wine on the patio looking over the gardens and tipi. The restaurant, public areas and the bedrooms were all pristine and food of a great standard, when in the area we would definitely stay again."

Lovely coastal walks to beaches, cafes and pubs. House and garden so good for all the family and can kayak from the shore. Very friendly staff and service and we’ll be back. Thank you."
