"We love the location. A good place to slow down a bit with our road trip. Stroll around the area and do some activities as well. Our only disappointment was that there were dead flies in our room when we check in. Housekeeping might have missed it?"

"The location was gorgeous, perfect for the sunrise and set. There were beautiful Northern Lights right outside the door. It’s also located close to breathtaking experiences and tours. The cottage is cozy and clean, really cute! Would recommend!"

"The house was very clean and well appointed. The location was perfect for our midpoint stop traveling the peninsula. The remote location was also perfect for Northern lights viewing yet 5 minutes from the small town of Arnarstapi."

"The location is amazing and the rental itself had no issues. My bigger issues is that it is “self clean,” which I normally have no problem with; I love leaving rentals as clean as possible anyways. However, this rental obscenely asks that you wash and dry ALL linens and towels before leaving (true, the last load can be left in the dryer). After using four of the five beds and cleaning in the morning, we were left with a mountain of linens and towels to wash in a single morning. It was an impossible, stressful task that took hours and required us to call the manager to work out some sort of arrangement. I wouldn’t stay here unless you want to waste 5 hours on the day of your departure on washing. Additionally, there are multiple signs in the rental with the check out rules and instructions, but they were markedly different, leaving us very confused by what was expected of us. The owner was kind and understanding. This self cleaning task just felt impossible. "

"Overall, we had a very nice stay here, although there were some frustrating aspects. The house is great—clean, bright, warm, cozy, and comfortable—and the kitchen is pretty well equipped. Hellnar is a lovely place and it was a good spot from which to explore the peninsula. However, the WiFi, washer, and dryer were not working, and these were important amenities for us. The WiFi never worked at all while we were there—I’m not sure what the issue was, but we couldn’t load a single page when connected to it. The host said that it usually works, which may be true, but it didn’t while we were there, and no one helped to resolve that over our four days. This was frustrating, since the cellular service was limited; sometimes I couldn't even message the host because the VRBO website wouldn't load on my phone. The washer apparently broke down shortly before our stay, but the host didn't communicate this proactively (if she had, we could have done laundry in Reykjavik). As it was, we found a single public machine 50 minutes away with a malfunctioning dryer. The host did try to help us and arranged for us to use the washer in a nearby house on our third day, and she gave us a small refund for our troubles. We appreciated all of this—I know she wanted us to have a good stay. And we did have a wonderful time on Snaefellnes! The peninsula is amazing and the house is great. Still, having to think about these issues repeatedly was not ideal. "
