「This place was well worth the stay- I was only here one night but everything was incredible! Candy was welcoming and helpful from the minute I checked in. Very clean, homey, and such lovely views! If you’re able to walk stairs, I highly recommend it here. The lizards and landscape of the property made me smile.」

「We had the private villa with the balcony . The place it self is nice with an ocean view. The bar is only open until 9 which is a downer but the drinks are reasonable priced. It is a 5 minute walk from the airport so no need for a taxi to get to and from which I liked. Right by the beach which was nice. You can tell the property is older but it is nice and quiet. They have cats and roosters on the property. Seem like the island is known for that, they don’t bother anyone tho. 」

「The room was very clean and had great amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly. The space is beautiful and charming. Bartender and Restaurant staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829! 」

The simplicity might be a little less than what some want, but the stay met every one of our needs. The environment was beautiful and the beach was our favorite on the island! 「This hotel is like a bed & breakfast. It has 12 units scattered around the property in different buildings. The rooms are clean but dated. The breakfast could use some fruit and yogurt but there were many carb options. It was nice to be able to grab something quick. The building felt safe and private. The 5:00 free cocktail happy hour is a nice touch. The pool is clean and small and open 24 hrs. The property is set up to allow privacy if you prefer it. The staff is helpful and accommodating....

「What a beautiful place to stay on St. John, a great location with outstanding views. The restaurant was wonderful, we had two outstanding dinners and enjoyed after dinner drinks at the bar each evening. Staff was outstanding, friendly and helpful! We are planning to return in 2027!」

「The view is incredible. That is the last of my compliments. Hot water ran out after about 6 minutes. The power on the island went out almost every night which is terrible for someone who has to use a CPAP to sleep. It seemed as though all of the units around us had generators. If we had one it was never brought to our attention. We had no way to exit the compound because the gate would only open from the outside.
