"The hotel was fabulous, it’s right by a lake and is decorated beautifully. The staff were very friendly, especially the lovely guy who checked us in and was looking after the floor during the evening - so helpful! "
"The Sun is in an amazing location overlooking the beautiful village of Coniston.
It is also a stunning old building, full of character and charm. Tha staff cant do enough for you. "
"For £60 a night I had a clean and comfy bed, a hot shower, and a tea and coffee station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Yes, it is a little noisy and crooked, but it's an old pub with normal pub hours so that's to be expected. I'm a female in my early 30s travelling on my own and I felt very safe and welcomed.
Obviously this is not the hotels fault so still rating a 5, but just make sure you have a decent car to get there as the route is very steep and goes through a mountain range.
The only suggestion that I would make is to make the breakfast hours start and hour earlier for those wanting to beat the parking at popular hiking spots.
Also, after hearing a few conversations, it was not clear on the hotels.com site wether breakfast was included or not. I did pay for mine when I was there and it was only £10 so not a big deal anyway.

"Fantastic House. The pictures did not do it justice. It was way bigger than I was expecting. We had a family reunion with 17 adults and three children. There was plenty of room and different places for people to go to be alone if they wanted. The kids loved the games room and had so much fun. Would highly recommend it and we will definitely be visiting again."
"Comfortable weeklong stay. Good rooms, friendly staff, clean washrooms. Location also quite decent. Some really nice trails nearby. A bus stop nearby and ample parking for guests"
Pass the Keys | Beautiful Detached Farm House Near Lake Coniston
10/10 Excellent
"Crook farm is a great base for a multi generational group (plus dogs) - so much to recommend it. Location - being able to walk up the Old Man from the house was amazing; a large, enclosed garden for the dogs - and younger members of the group to explore; and the house itself - comfortable, spacious and full of character. We all had a wonderful week. "
