“This spot was almost perfect! Clean, pet friendly, easy communication, a bookshelf of old books from the 1920s, rocking chairs on the deck, and a great location not far from town. The only reason I didn’t give this stay five stars is because there are no bear bins outside. So, the large trash has to stay inside, and though the host offers to take out the trash, it can get smelly.”

“Our family had a good time for my 54th birthday weekend. Real close to Boreal and Soda Springs. The place was clean and equipped with everything we needed to cook for breakfast and dinner. “This cabin is incredibly dated and not kept up. We had several problems within the cabin. The carpets were incredibly stained, some of the screens were ripped on the windows, there was a curtain missing with a broken rod in one of the bedrooms making it very difficult to sleep in the room, one of the windows was broken in the other bedroom and could not be opened, there was issues with the washing machine because the lid does not close properly…Amy, the host responded quickly and offered to……

“Our stay was wonderful. Everything had a personal touch and was welcoming and clean. The area was peaceful and the view is beautifully surrounded by trees. The house slept 8 of us comfortably. 3 bathrooms made getting ready easy and the washer and dryer was a great extra touch. AC worked great and there were throw blankets available. The kitchen was stocked with nice extras like coffee, tea, waters, and cereal/oatmeal. There were a lot of games to play and a full game room downstairs. The house……

“Really lovely property. Great spot, great house. Excellent stargazing through the pines. Remote forest setting makes the trek to Nevada City worth it. Only caveat for future bookers: the off-grid setup means limited fridge/storage space — not ideal if you're planning big elaborate meals.”

“Overall, our family of 8: 2 elderly grandparents, 4 older adults (50s & 60s) and 2 adult children (20s) really enjoyed our stay in Truckee at Kantor’s Hideaway. The home is very large with plenty of gathering space in the great room and the backyard deck. The kitchen is well stocked. The hot tub was hot and relaxing. “Donner Bliss is a dream! It’s conveniently located near both Donner and Truckee, and stocked with everything you could need. You can tell that it’s a beloved family home, with all of its thoughtful touches. Enjoying the fire pit or hot tub under the trees and stars is a treat in particular. It was perfect for our family (including our one year old and senior pup) and we certainly had room to spare, so it’d be good for larger groups, too. Highly recommend!”
