In the summer, hiking trails abound in the Donner Lake area, as well as public beach access at both West End Beach, a gorgeous 10-acre beach park (a nominal entrance fee is required) and the Memorial State Park. On the north side of the lake, you'll also find public boat docks. Multiple ski resorts are in close driving distance for any skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts.
