「This was a pleasant surprise- front desk staff upgraded us to a suite with views of both harbor and mountains when we told them it was my partner’s birthday. All staff were incredibly friendly and kind. Bed was extremely comfortable with lots of pillows and soft sheets. Location is right in the downtown area near all restaurants, shops, and public transit yet quite quiet. Our 3 night stay was excellent! 「Glacier Bay Lodge is several miles outside of the small town of Gustavus, but the destination of choice for travelers to the area, providing an optimal staging place for trips out to the glacier. We hiked the coast on the forest trails running north and south from the lodge. Both trails are extremely well maintained and gorgeous the whole way through. The staff was more than happy to ensure we knew all of the risks in the area and allow us to borrow bear spray just in case things went sideways....

「one of the best B&Bs I’ve ever been in. Everything was pristine, lots of comfy chairs in the lounge area. The bed was the most comfortable I’d ever slept in. The room was a good size. I will say that a lot of people like claw-foot tubs but I’m not a fan but it was fine. The breakfasts were phenomenal. The cook should start his own restaurant. Would stay here again in the heartbeat. 」

「This was the perfect getaway to truly disconnect from civilization for a while. A truly unique experience. The house is perfectly located on the waterfront with a view of the water in the mountains, with whales and seals swimming past. Our host took great care of us, including picking us up at the dock. There are some good local hiking, just watch out for the bears. Food and groceries are available, though limited. Everything is walkable, and there is beauty all around.」
