“We stayed 2 nights with our dog during a tour of the Rutland area and further afield. We were really impressed by the hotel - great location, friendly and helpful staff, lovely walks locally, well maintained facilities, lots of spaces for chilling out, lovely food and welcoming of our dog in all locations. We had a lovely stay and this hotel is high on our list for a return, perhaps without our dog so we can use the spa facilities! The only slight negatives were that the room looked a little……

“The "hotel" in some respects was reasonable (vehicle parking, visual appearance, and the room itself), but did not justify the name of hotel. The property offered no facilities for an evening meal (and even the nearest dining facilities {more than half a mile away} was closing down at the end of the day we were there and only offered a limited menu on that day). When asking what time breakfast was served there was some doubt whether it was served at all. They then stated that breakfast would be……

“Very quaint pub ,excellent food ,well situated for exploring the surrounding countryside. The shower in our room didn’t work (it wasn’t fixed while we were there )and bathroom couldn’t be heated !! Otherwise all good ,”

“Excellent, as always. Spacious, comfortable room with character. Lovely bistro and wonderful breakfast room.”

“We stay here one night. It’s clean and comfortable, nice for one night and good price! Recommendation!”

“Very nice traditional hotel, has a lot of character. The rooms are a tad dated but fit the atmosphere of the building. Really comfy beds and we had memory foam pillows on a big bed. It is also a restaurant but we didn't eat here, but it smells very nice. Would very much stay here again for the price”

“Standard of accomadation clean and tidy, and a very fair price, all in all ideal for our one night stop over, proprietor servers a great pint of beer.”

“The most beautiful place to stay and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Just a few things that I thought needed changing: only one pillow per person and only one bath towel and one other towel in the room. I know there was a heatwave but it’s a beautiful old building with only one small opening window in the rooms so a decent sized fan would have been appreciated (not the tiny one provided) and maybe some bottled water. We did however enjoy our stay and would happily return”

“Non-contact hotel offering good facilities for stay in Oakham. Comfy bed, very nice washroom and basic appliances. Good value for money”
