“I’ve traveled to various European destinations in Mexico and South America, but I’ve never encountered a five-star hotel with such a poorly maintained system. The patio was littered with discarded boards, and the shower leaked. The housekeeping left dirty towels in the rooms, and there were even dead roaches on the floor. My children had bites on their arms and legs when they woke up in the morning, which I suspect were bed bugs. I called the hotel and notified the front desk as soon as I left……

“My fiancé and I stayed 3 nights here in March and while I wouldn't call it a 5-star hotel, we had an excellent experience. Something to consider when staying here is that it is located about 40 minutes away from the main city area (Christiansted) and the roads leading up the hotel get narrow and the cell service gets shotty. The drive is so far out that some Uber drivers decline your ride because they do not want to drive out that far. I would def let them drive instead of renting if you are……

“Rooms need a deep clean to get rid of all the sand from previous guests. Wasn’t a very welcoming or friendly hotel. The very nicest people who work there are the guards at the gate. So nice. Everyone else, didn’t really care. Based on others’ reviews we skipped the pool and restaurants. The beach was pretty but that’s all the resort has going for it. ”

From the moment I checked in, it was clear that this place is long overdue for a complete overhaul—starting with the room bathrooms, which were an absolute disaster. Poor water pressure, inconsistent drainage, flushing that looked like they hadn’t been updated (or properly maintained) in decades made even the simplest routines frustrating. The rooms themselves felt stuck in another era—and not in a charming, vintage way.……

“The room was comfortable and had more amenities than other places I have stayed in St.Croix. The owners were friendly and helpful. The views were beautiful and the breeze enjoyable in the evening. You do need an all wheel drive vehicle and should definitely arrive while it is still light out. The WiFi was dependable.”

“I’ve been going to St Croix for 12 years and need to advise that if you’re looking for a 5 star luxury hotel / resort; you’re on the wrong island; goto St Thomas. Hotels here are mainly historic / small, which keeps with the island. With that said I loved staying at this hotel. It’s 300 years old; very clean, in the heart of everything, just feet from the restaurants / shops / water. The manager is on site.
