El Beso Playa del Carmen – overall good (but Mixed Experience for what we wanted from our vacation) There were some great highlights, particularly the entertainment and comfortable rooms, but inconsistent service, restaurant availability, and reservation difficulties took away from the experience. 👍 The Good Rooms: We booked a non-Privilege swim-up room through Expedia. Despite reading reviews about mildew smells, our room smelled fine and was well air-conditioned. The safe wasn't properly unlocked on arrival, but the front desk resolved this when we called. Facilities: The gym is large and open 24 hours, filtered water is available for refilling bottles, and the resort shuttle runs frequently. There is quite a bit of walking because the resort is large but I enjoyed getting my steps in. Wildlife: There are lots of coatis around the property which are super cute. They generally keep their distance, but watch your food—one snatched a muffin right out of my partner's hand! Entertainment: Movie and song trivia were lots of fun, the hosts were a ball, the blackjack dealer was entertaining, and the nightly shows were excellent. Adults-only atmosphere: The resort generally did a good job of keeping the adults-only experience separate, although children were allowed in the disco, which opens at 10:30 p.m. 🍽️ Food and Drinks Restaurant availability: There are plenty of restaurants, but they aren't all open every day.
