The crew consisted of Captain Miguel and the diving guide Jorge. Great people. On the way, drinks and snacks were served. Lugar fantástico para mergulhar de snorkel. Água morna e límpa. Check-in was an absolute nightmare. I spent more time at the front desk in the first 24 hours that I did on vacation. It was sad, we had so many issues it’s undescribable. There were so many other people that have issues as well that we shared experiences.

The property is beautifully located in a jungle with winding paths through lush gardens. The buildings are very cool old Spanish style. Rooms were very clean and large. The buffet food is fine, plenty of choices and the fresh fruit is great. The ala carte restaurants were good but have quite a limited menu. They make it a special dining experience. It’s a small very friendly resort.

Disappointment Due to Queues and Lack of Sunbeds at Occidental Cozumel - All Inclusive The hotel is decent overall: clean and cozy room, restaurants with a good selection of dishes, tasty and varied food. Beautiful beach, warm sea. But the vacation was ruined by endless queues and infrastructure issues! Queues everywhere: 15 minutes to enter the main restaurant, 20 minutes to get a drink at the beach bar, another 15 minutes for lunch at the beach restaurant. Half the vacation was spent standing in lines! Staff works sluggishly, in no hurry - that’s why all the delays. Sunbeds on the beach are impossible to find from morning till evening: all occupied by “reservations” - people throw towels and leave. We lay on the sand on our own towels from 10 AM to 4 PM. A la carte restaurants are a real quest: you can’t book for the same day, only the next, and only if you managed to sign up at 9 AM. It’s a shame for the money and time spent. Not recommended for those who want to relax, not waste their vacation waiting.

Staff was great as always! Rooms were nice and the maids were very attentive! Breakfast was good. Dinner buffet was eh, but the mexican theme night at the buffet was really good. Nice pools and nice beach even though the beach was drawn back due to the hurricane a few years ago. All in all i would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in cozumel. The island is a gem!

Room was good. There are very few bathrooms on site, you go back to your room from the pool. Food was OK, not great. Buffet food could have been hotter. Great resort layout, it was paths through the jungle. We paid for a Concierge and that was a waste, asked for one thing and it didnt happen. He just tried selling us a membership. We should have upgraded to the "Royal" rooms. They have an additional restaurant.

First of all, the staff was amazing, not one single rude person on the resort. Special thank you to all the staff at the La Caretta, for some reason I cannot leave their names per Expedia... but the entire staff was so great. Wonderful, loving staff, took very good care of us. The ladies at the Royal check in, I failed to get their names, but I hope they are recognized as they made the check in so smooth and so sweet. Now about the resort. This resort was fabulous. the accommodations were fabulous, all the food was really good, Pools and beach is outstanding. Wish the Mexican food was more authentic, but the staff, wonderful. Seafood restaurant was good as was the Mediterranean. We just had a wonderful time and high recommend this resort.

The resort overall is pretty good, expected more based off the ratings. The hurricane that hit it a few years ago had a significant impact on it. I would rate our stay as good. The cleanliness of the resort was very good, but there were a lot of things that were needing attention. Our shower head was somewhat detached from the ceiling so it would spray water out of the shower for the first portion of the water running. The ice machine for our area didn't work the entire week. They ran out of one of the alcoholic beverages that I drink and the staff response was basically we have no idea when we'll have more. It's an all inclusive but not really. Room service is at an extra charge. The refrigerator in our room got things cool, probably about the temperature you'd drink red wine. We ate at three of the signature restaurants. The Greek one and Coral the seafood restaurant were not good. The Mexican one was ok. The daily buffet was completely hit and miss. The first day most of the entrees were cold. After that you'd be lucky if there was bacon in the morning or tortilla chips at lunch. They'd seem to only put them out about once an hour and then they'd be gone. Thankfully we realized most of this early on and ate away from the resort more than on site. The good. The staff were all very friendly and extremely accommodating. That was the only portion of the trip that was 5 stars. The pool and beach area were nice and they had some fun activities to partake in.

Rooms varied from building to building. We stayed in number 19 on the second floor and found things to be brighter with good views and breezes compared to my family who were on the first floor of #10. It’s a smaller resort and loved the feel of being surrounded by nature. Staff were friendly and responsive. Loved that there wasn’t a prominent tip culture. It was a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Loved being able to snorkel from the beach and take out the kayaks. Limited sights to see outside or around the resort unless you’re looking to go diving or snorkelling.
