"This is a good apartment as it’s so close to Cardiff by road or train. It’s also very close to local shops and a 15 min walk to the lovely pier and beach. What the ad doesn’t tell you is the apartment is at the side of the train stop that runs every 15 minutes. We chose it as it had parking but again once we booked, it’s not suitable for a large vehicle which we have. The toilet seat in the en suite is too small for the toilet so went flying. "This seemed like a good location and a nice upmarket looking flat, with quality amenities and furnishings from the advert. We were shocked when we arrived to find the front of the property piled high with garbage. Bags, open food waste, open bins. It smelled horrendous. It was also over 30 degrees C. We were supposed to be in the upper flat, but had been assigned the ground floor flat, whose windows were located over the garbage. The only windows. No air con. No fan inside. It was dark...

"We visited the area to meet up with family. The price we paid on Expedia was great and not dissimilar to that for Premier Inn/Travelodge, which we would normally have used. I would say that the hotel previously was 4-star, but I wouldn't say it was 4-star today. The room was clean and staff welcoming. Parts of look like it needed attention. But there was some scaffolding up and the restaurant was closed for refurbishment, so they're possibly making some improvements. Only one of the two lifts in reception were working, and they're very small. The air conditioning in our room didn't seem to work, but thankfully the window did open. The toilet paper and tea/coffee were not replaced automatically considering we stayed for 3 nights. TV was not smart (so unable to cast from mobile); only Freeview channels available. Strangely, the room had a small table but no chairs.... In the mornings, the hot water was only slightly warm. However, we did have a pleasant stay, and it's a very convenient location for the shops and eateries."
