"It's a student halls of residence. If that's what you're expecting I would imagine you'd be very happy with the room. If you're expecting a hotel, it's not a hotel. It was exactly as I was expecting. Comfortable, no frills, perfectly fine for a one night stay for me. Wifi was great. A little bit of noise at times, it's student accommodation, but not too noisy by a long way. I recently stayed at the IBIS in Bristol and that was far noisier. Would happily book again for a short stay."

"This was an excellently decorated & comfortably furnished apartment, perfectly located in a quiet location in the main part of town. We parked a short distance away at the ASDA car park, which was reasonably priced via the JustPark app. Helpful owners & excellent communication. We didn’t use the cooking equipment as the apartment was close to a number of chain restaurants - we did notice that there was no sharp knife nor microwave but otherwise was very well equipped. "The room was beautifully clean. No horrible black mould in the shower. The bed was slightly too soft for me but im sure other people would appreciate it. I ate in the restaurant and enjoyed my meal. It was lovely sitting outside on the roof terrace. All the staff, I encountered were polite, and very helpful. Its a pity the hotel doesn't have a carpark but Friars walk is only a short distance away. Newport itself is rather run down and unfortunately has a lot of empty shop premises but it is extremely convenient for visiting Cardiff. I would be very happy to stay there again."

"All staff I encountered were pleasant, helpful, and approachable throughout my stay. A dip in the hotel pool was extremely welcome during the current heatwave. I found it very relaxing, with plenty of room for swimming. The room itself was pleasant and spacious; however, I was disappointed that there was no air conditioning, although a fan was provided in the wardrobe. There were also no plug sockets near the bed and no USB or USB-C charging outlets in the room, which is something most hotels now tend to offer. Unfortunately, I found the bed extremely uncomfortable, which resulted in a couple of disturbed nights’ sleep."

"Exceptional 3 star hotel, evening meal menu excellent value (3 courses £30) and the food was really very good. We drove with with a dog and there was no surcharges for car or pet. We could eat in the lounge area with the dog. Room was a good size and very comfortable and clean Staff were friendly and helpful We will definitely stay here again"

"We needed 2 last-minute rooms and we hit the jackpot here! Super clean, well maintained, free parking, and best of all during this heatwave, wonderful air conditioning! Close to Tintern Abbey (25 minutes) and Cardiff (35 mins). Only thing lacking are washcloths (or "flannels" as they are referred to in the UK), but most hotels don't stock them we are finding. Highly recommend staying here over Cardiff."
