「Great place to stay! There are no staff on site but the owners were super responsive even when we asked to check in early! It’s a great location to the train station and the gyoza place at the end of the street is incredible! Also laundry is very close! Will definitely stay here again next time we stay in Kyoto! 」

「I thought the gorilla theme was really cute and liked the shared space dorm feeling. Some guests were cheerful and not especially quiet but once it got late it was quiet and we slept well. It actually felt festive and pleasant. The bath facilities were clean. There could have been more garbage bins as they got full quickly and it became difficult to separate. The space had a good feeling and it was comfortable to sleep on futons even as a family. There's not much privacy so it might not be great...

「If you’re looking for an authentic tatami mat stay with easy access to great food and local experiences - and don’t mind sharing a bathroom with other guests - we highly recommend this place! 「Really nice clean ryokan in a quiet part of the neighbourhood. Has everything you need. Walking distance to restaurants and the train station. It was great to experience this style of accommodation. Felt like we were really immersed in the local area and very different to the hotel experience. 」

「This is a self check in/check out so there is no staff or room service. The room itself is amazing and spacious. The bathroom is just as great! The beds were super comfortable! One of my favorite hotels! I will definitely be back. But keep in mind there is no elevator so I got lucky being on the second floor but if you have the third then you have to carry your luggage all the way up there. 」
