While the property had great possibility, sadly the entire stay felt disjointed due to the way things are run. Example- rooftop pool that has no food/bar available…even though there is a restaurant on the rooftop. The hotel advertised that the rooftop bar was open at 3pm, yet we never saw any staff there until the restaurant prepped to open. The staff seemed undertrained and consistently put into circumstances where they were unsure of how to fulfill a request. Again, while the property was nice, I would not recommend returning until management irons out quite a few wrinkles.

Pros: The staff were very friendly. The rooms and grounds were clean. Cons: Food was average at best, but not much of a variety. We did not have reservations one night, so we decided to try to walk in one of the restaurants. We were told we would have an hour and half wait, but there was only 8 people in the restaurant. The pool bar closes at 5;30, and the pool closes at 8. I saw no activities the 5 days we were there. Overall the experience was decent, but not great. I definitely don’t feel it was worth the money we spent.

Room: The ocean was visible but partially obstructed. The shower door would not close properly and stayed open about five inches; we reported it but it was not fixed. The tub would not hold water initially, though they did repair that. Food: Very hit or miss. The kitchen seems to add unnecessary twists to simple dishes; staples like pizza should be left alone. Many items had a strange “what is that?” flavor while others were bland. The menus are limited, and the restaurants strictly enforced reservations even with only a few tables occupied. With about eight people in the restaurant we were told there was a 45-minute wait. Since there were no grab-and-go options, we ended up taking a cab for better food. Drinks: None stood out, and standard cocktails like the Moscow Mule and piña colada were poorly balanced—either too much juice or too weak overall. The hurricane was especially disappointing. Hotel: The property itself is in good shape with nice common areas, and the staff is friendly. However, you will usually need to retrieve your own drinks as staff rarely check on guests in common areas. The hotel also shuts down early: the pool bar closes at 5 p.m., the main pool at 8 p.m., and the smaller upstairs pool stays open slightly later but has no swim-up bar. You will be in and out retrieving drinks. Overall: for the money we paid, there are much better resorts we have experienced. Isla Mujures is great but we will look to stay elsewhere next time.

Took a while for our room to be ready. We didn't get our room till almost two hours after check out and only after complaining. We noticed others having the same issue. We were not given a tour or an explanation of amenities. The hotel was very clean and beautiful. Staff was good beside a couple lack luster interactions. Food was great but after dinner you were left still hungry due to minimal portions and lack of sides with certain dinner options. Overall my stay was good. Would come back again in the future knowing now what to expect. Both my wife and I did get sick during and after our stay.

The resort is beautiful! The lobby, beach, pool, restaurants, etc….were all amazing aesthetically! The food is by far the highlight at Almare. All meals are 5 star, fine dining quality, even the room service meals were a step above most. Very relaxing stay but needs more activities, there were no activities going on during my week long stay other then beach yoga. The resort pretty much shuts down at 10pm, no bars or anything to chill at. The only place to find any type of action is to take a taxi into town. We rented golf carts and enjoyed the beautiful island a couple days but other then that there wasn’t much to do. Overall good place just to relax and eat but nothing else…

We loved our stay here - it was so relaxing and the perfect place for couples to enjoy. The resort was beautiful and everything was very clean - we loved our room. Only thing is we were supposed to have an ocean view but mostly were facing the water park next to the property. The food was great - the beach/pool menu was our favorite as well as Seasalt the rooftop restaurant. We would recommend grabbing a drink at Seasalt before dinner to enjoy the views and watchthe sunset. The infinity pool next to Seasalt is also gorgeous. Overall, we loved our trip and enjoyed the customer service. During our stay, there were a few hiccups, such as not being able to order room service during the day (no one answered, and it is supposed to be 24/7), but we were able to get through and order other mornings. It also seems like at times they are short staffed - there was one morning we went to Boga for breakfast right and they said the wait for an indoor or outdoor table was very long. We ended up just seating ourselves and going to the buffet and taco station. These were all minor and otherwise we felt like the service was great. Would recommend this hotel for a relaxing romantic getaway!

The hotel is beautiful! The pool and beach is wonderful and easy to find seats with shade. Staff all so attentive to all our needs. The food and drinks were delicious. The coffee shop with pastries as perfect for every afternoon treat!

If you’ve already booked, don’t panic — it’s not awful. But for a Luxury Collection resort at this price point, it falls short of what you’d expect from a true five-star stay. The positives: communal areas are clean, calm and beautifully designed. Breakfast is the standout meal, the beach lunch truck is great, the Byredo toiletries feel premium, and the private boat transfer is excellent. The coffee shop is a nice touch too. Unfortunately, service is inconsistent. Waits of 10+ minutes for basic requests were common and some staff came across as rude. Service often felt dependent on tipping, and even then it was hit-and-miss. The lobby bar has no menu and several drinks weren’t available. Housekeeping and maintenance need work: mouldy shower, poor pressure, dirty windows, marks left from previous guests, a broken jacuzzi plug, and a minibar that wasn’t restocked (a bag of sweets isn’t “snacks”). We had to call for cleaning and bottled water that never arrived. There were also organisational issues — closed pools with no signage, a booked golf buggy that never turned up, and limited flexibility on late checkout despite the hotel being quiet. Overall, a decent 4-star stay, but it misses the mark for a luxury five-star experience.

This resort exceeded our expectations. Being vegan it can be difficult to find a variety of appropriate food when traveling. Once the resort knew, the chefs prepared special meals just for me every dinner. I have never had that kind of service. BTW: the food! So amazing, every meal. The staff were all exceptional; friendly, helpful and courteous. Emiliano, Christina, Noe, Edgar, Karen, Iliana, Roberto, Alejandro, housekeeping staff; I wish I could remember everyone’s names. Every encounter was pleasant. Alan the manager, introduced himself on our first day and checked in throughout to ensure we were having a pleasant stay. Room was clean and well supplied. Housekeeping staff kept it that way for our 2 week stay. The hotel is quiet, calm and so very restful. The decor is beautiful. The spa is fantastic and the staff there were wonderful as well. Would love to return here again one day.

Amazing time for our honeymoon. Staff was over the top. Karen, Claudia, and Edgar, to name a few were awesome…as well as ALL the staff. Everyone knew you by name and went above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. Being all inclusive we were hesitant on how it would be. We could not believe the 5 star quality food and drinks we were served. Definitely coming back! Thank you for everything! Adam & Jamie

Almare is the definition of luxury!!! This was one of the best experiences we've ever had at an all inclusive resort. First, we need to acknowledge how amazing the staff was. The service was incredible throughout our entire stay and they were so attentive. Every single day we looked forward to seeing Karen, Alejandro, Claudia (and another staff member whos name started with an E but I can't remember it!!) at the beach beds/beach bar. They were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and we can't wait to go back and see them. Noe and Emiliano were also so helpful with every question we had and always did their best to find solutions quickly. The amenities are top tier, loved the spa. Also loved the food offerings at the rooftop restaurant Seasalt. Definitely looking forward to our return as this ticked all of our boxes.

Cristina the hostess was so kind and helpful throughout our stay. She is a real gem! Very clean hotel. Breakfast buffet had a variety of fresh fruit and natural yogurt, along with smoked salmon etc. Other breakfast items could be ordered from the menu. Lunch and dinner options were outstanding and good variety. We will be back again. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

Almare was a great first experience into an all inclusive and adults only resort. We really enjoyed Edgar, and Cara from beachside service. Claudia was beachside and pool side, she went above and beyond and she remembered our names from day 1!! <3 Resort was only about 60% capacity so it felt like we had the resort to ourselves. It was so relaxing and quiet- just what we wanted!! Joseph and Rafael from the bar were really awesome, too. They educated us on drinks and different tequilas they had to offer. I can't say enough how great the service was and how attentive they were. Nothing is perfect and we did get forgotten about our first night, but we got in really late and ordered room service at 1am. We called an hour later and was told they never had an order in. Also our shower head handle also fell off at one point and we asked for them to repair it and there was some miscommunication there, too. But it all got handled and fixed and they were sincerely apologetic. We are laid back and this wasn't a deal breaker for us. Anytime we needed a taxi, the front desk would call and a taxi would be there within minutes. They would ask if we needed a towel or water. Very accommodating. The food at the two main restaurants were outstanding. We ate on the rooftop two nights and downstairs two nights. The food was great! Mediterranean style and the pizza at Seasalt was FAB. We ordered ceviche, guac, and shrimp tacos when on the beach and I think I ate it 4x. 😋 The beach was very clean

We stayed at Almare to ring in 2026. The positives: most of the staff were very kind and genuinely tried to be helpful. Only one employee we encountered was rude & disgruntled. The resort grounds were small, but clean and well maintained, with nice furniture throughout. Breakfast at BOGA Café was enjoyable, and the beach area itself was nice. The negatives: we felt the main issue was severe understaffing. Having stayed at Four Seasons and other true 5-star properties, this resort did not meet 5-star standards and was not luxurious, as advertised. The room was mediocre, with paper-thin walls and confusing light switches. It was nearly impossible to reach the front desk, housekeeping, or in-room dining by phone. One day, we waited an hour for towels after housekeeping forgot to replace them. Food options were very limited and inconsistent, often feeling overly focused on gastronomy at the expense of taste and enjoyment. A few simple, reliable options would have been nice. On several occasions, the café was either closed or had only a couple of items available. Dinner on the rooftop was especially frustrating—one night we spent 2.5 hours mostly waiting for food and trying to get the attention of the only server. The pool water was freezing, and we were told the heater was broken. Additionally, the private boat transfer from Cancun that was advertised, was unavailable, though the resort did coordinate and cover the cost of a taxi and ferry. The resort has potentIal.
