"If you are planning a trip to Arashiyama, Kyoto, then this is hands-down the best place to stay. It is close to every tourist attraction—bamboo forest, Tenryu Temple, and Fukuda Museum—all the good stuff you need to see.
The property offered us free pick-up service from Kyoto Station, bookable via email, so getting there was a breeze. Once we arrived, the concierge service was top notch, and every one of our needs was tended to.
The evening drink service is the cherry on top. While they do have Champaigns, wines, and all the usual alcoholic suspects, we are not big drinkers ourselves. We opted for tea, and the tea selection was so extensive that it took us 6 days to try all of the options (among the three of us).
Because we are a party of 3 and booked a room for 2, the hotel was kind enough to arrange a foldaway bed for us.
Housekeeping is highly responsive. They re-stocked our amenities every time we head out for breakfast, tea, or the on-site onsen (hot spring). This shows that internal communication is streamlined.
Overall a 6 out of 5 stars experience. Never had we felt so relaxed and pampered on a trip. This hotel is slightly pricey and is not something we can afford on a day-to-day basis, but the level of service and proximity to attractions make this stay well worth it. We will not hesitate to stay here again for our next trip to Kyoto, and it is happening soon! I can feel it"
