Farnton Hill Gallops, Long Riston, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. A training course for race horses has existed at Farnton Hill since the 19th century. A track of sand mixed with wool now runs alongside the public footpath between Long Riston and the parish boundary with Rise at the southeast corner of Farnton Plantations.

St Margaret's Church, Long Riston, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. A church has existed at Long Riston since before 1170 and was called St Margaret's by 1434. Like most English churches it has been much altered over the centuries. The tower was added in the 14th century and restored in 1881. Friendly staff on the whole. We booked a double and were initially sent to a twin room but fortunately this was quickly remedied. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Tatty desk chair. Bathroom clean. Some chips on edges of tiles in the shower area. Spent some time mid evening in the bar. Only two ...

Sandholme Viaduct, Leven, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The brick parapet visible in the centre of the picture is where the Leven Canal crosses over the Burshill and Barff Drain. The three and a quarter mile long canal links Leven with the River Hull. It operated between 1805 and 1935 but is now closed to traffic and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
