「I generally stay in 4–5 star accommodation, and based on the website description and previous reviews, I expected Hay’s Wood Retreat to fall into that category. Unfortunately, the standard of the lodge did not match the ‘luxury’ billing — in my assessment it was closer to a solid 3-star property. If you’re used to genuinely high-end accommodation, I’d recommend tempering your expectations regardless of the marketing or other reviews you may have read. It’s a perfectly adequate stay, but...

「Everything was as you would expect, kitchen had everything you need and it was great for the price. Staff were very friendly and had some good facilities. Slight issue with beds on the smaller size and the bathroom floor was a little dirty as it looked like someone walked in with grassy shoes. 」

「Hi, We arrived at your holiday park 17th October for a weekend away for 3 nights. When arriving at the caravan we notice that the caravan smelt off wee and cigarettes. After a further investigation we notice that the was a urine stain on the sofa, the sofa was also covered on crumbs and dirty. We then discovered that there was hair in the bed, sink and shower. Picture below. We made the fastest decision that we aren’t staying in this caravan due to the poor hygiene and smell. Baring in mind this...

「Lovely safari tent in a convenient and peaceful setting. Incredibly handy for National Water sports centre. Bed was comfy, great having separate rooms too. Worth noting that although there are toilets close by, the only showers are at the far end of the campsite so a few minutes walk away. Tent had a mini fridge and an electric kettle, but no gas hob or pans / crockery / cutlery / cups etc so need to take your own if planning on any cooking / hot chocolates etc.」
