Sunken Meadow State Park Hotels

"So this is a basic hotel in an expensive town. It wants to be special, but it isn’t. It is honestly a little weird. Here’s my story: Check in: mildly annoyed desk agent would not check me in, spouse name on reservation. Ugh. I booked Expedia so I didn’t think to add myself. So, we are at an impass. But no! There’s an answer! Just call here on your cell, and have her tell us it is ok for you to check in and add yourself to the reservation. Done. Fine. What was the point of that stupid exercise? But, I have permission. Great. Agent then makes a weird production of taking out latex gloves, snapping them on, TO TOUCH MY ID. Ok . Whatever. Hotel is like 1/2 a city block square. I ask: how do I get to my room? Reasonable question. I ask because I see on the way in there is parking all around the hotel. “It’s up the stairs or elevator to floor 2. Follow the signs.” As I walk 5 minutes, I realize I should have driven to the back of the hotel. One of the most bizarre passive aggressive check ins I’ve ever had. Shampoo is a soap bar. Weird Have to ask for hair conditioner (wife’s issue) Weird Breakfast was Ok, but not special. Breakfast area espresso machine was nice. I suspect this is a local event venue, and I’m not local. So Won’t return. "

"Such a pleasant stay for our weekend. The Bed was comfortable. The place is fairly new, very clean, with a convenient quick breakfast & amenities. Lots of other restaurants & shopping places in the area. Definitely would stay there again & recommend this place to any family or friends going to that part of Long Island, NY. "

"Check in room was at 89 degrees. Unable to lower the temp. Moved to a different room temp was 80 degrees unable to lower the temp. Shut system down. TV did not work and not fixed until the second day after asking 2 times to fix."

"When booking, it was not revealed that the property was under renovations. Boxes, mattresses, palettes were piled everywhere. Construction noises from morning til night. Construction workers walking freely around property. "newly" renovated rooms had no working lighting by bed/fake lights. No electrical outlets by beds to plug in chargers. No hair dryer provider=d in room. Breakfast was terrible even for continental breakfast. "Security" door was unlatched, even at night. Will not stay at La Quinta again."

"The sink faucet was lose and falling off the sink. The shower dripped. There were no towels in the two adjoining rooms, and there was a large spider in one of the beds. This was the worse hotel experience I have on three continents. I spoke to staff and sent a text and was assured they would fix everything. But nothing was fixed. I had to go lobby to get towels. Poor Poor service. Not a good experience when traveling for a wedding. "
