Independent Torquay hotels

"Really lovely hotel and location, staff helpful, would be nice to have access to a gym or pool. Was told by a local that the hotel doesn’t allow locals to use the bar / restaurant which seems a shame"

"Our stay at Hampton by Hilton Torquay lived up to the brand’s reputation for consistency and in several areas, exceeded expectations. Parking was straightforward, with ample options both on-street and in a nearby multi-storey just a short walk away (under 200 yards), which made arrival and daily outings very easy. The hotel foyer was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully laid out, with useful local information readily available. Our room was on the smaller side compared to typical U.S. standards, though that’s fairly typical across Europe. It was, however, well equipped, including a small fridge for drinks, and stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries. One thing to note: the mattress is very firm. Those who prefer a harder bed will likely appreciate it, but it wasn’t quite to our liking and resulted in some back discomfort during our stay. A more significant downside was the inability to open the bedroom window. This meant relying entirely on the air conditioning, which worked perfectly well but we would have preferred the option of fresh air. Breakfast was included in our rate and was a real positive. There was a good selection each morning, with both hot items and a solid continental offering, all fresh and well presented. The location is excellent within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, local bus routes, and around 15 minutes on foot to two nearby rail stations. We stayed for six nights and would happily return."

"** edited ** wouldn’t let me post Absolutely filthy!! Upon speaking to some of the locals it’s actually a hostel for wrongens mainly !! It’s not a hotel holiday stay they refused me my refund back the place was grimey underground is definitely cleaner !! Staff are useless piss takes I had insurance and still refused to pay me my money back after a week Of constant calls I finally got my money back !! Don’t trust this place !!"

"Only one night out of season. No complaints. It’s a good size hotel with a pool. Close to town and quiet."

"Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good. Room was clean . However was very tired and need of a freshen up. Could not turn shower off so had to be moved rooms. Second room lock was a bit fishy and needed lots of pulling/pushing to secure locking "

"We had a lovely stay at the Imperial. Although on arrival we thought the exterior looked tired and was worried about what the interior would be like. Nevertheless we needed not to be concerned as it is in a very good condition internally. Our room was a nice size and probably one of the most comfortable beds I have ever had at a hotel. The breakfast was of a good standard. One tiny complaint is they I had to.pay for the car park. Overall it’s a lovely hotel, nice staff and a very pleasant stay in Torquay. "

"Room old and dated swimming pool what we normally go for was cold and not enjoyable as normal it lovely temperature as that why we go for the kids if you book on hotel. Com just let know you will be in the far way rooms that no good for anybody with kids or people that can't walk far"

"Excellent short stay; arrived early not expecting room to be available. Offered complimentary coffee and tea while we waited which was a lovely touch. Room was good with spacious bathroom. Breakfast was varied with good choice and no long wait for service. Free parking anywhere these days is also a real bonus. Definitely recommend and will visit again when in area."
