8/10 Good
"A unique experience as it is a campus hotel which we have never stayed at before. Room's were clean and simple and the hotel had flexible check in as we arrived very late which was great. It was difficult to find being again a campus hotel. Once we figured it out the staff was very helpful and we felt very safe as the doors can only be opened with scanning your card to get in. It was in a good location as we could walk or drive without an issue to see the sites. Negatives are the cleaning staff do NOT respect the "Do not disturb" sign, since we came in very late, and did not clean the room after we went out on our first day. Room's are very simple and thank goodness the heat wave of Europe was over as there was no air conditioning which we did not need. No TV but we did not need it as we were always out touring London. Front desk was great and they ensured the cleaning team was notified about the issues we had and our rooms were cleaned on time the next day and it was more quiet going forward."

Claridge’s, Maybourne

Claridge’s, Maybourne

10/10 Excellent
"Claridge's has the reputation of being one of the best hotels in the world and although I am not one to gush with praise, I would have to agree. I have never been anywhere better. Firstly: the staff are lovely, competent, and friendly (OK, that is not so rare in 5* world). Secondly, the whole place is so clean, so well maintained, that it looks brand new. Its like you are the first person ever to have been in your room. This is rare, especially for a hotel with as much history as this. And the food was excellent. Really good. Location is perfect for a tourist. My taste is for a more modern, minimal look, but I have to say the whole hotel looks beautiful. Sort of Art Deco with a modern twist."

The May Fair Hotel, Mayfair, London

The May Fair Hotel, Mayfair, London

8/10 Good
"Everything good with helpful friendly staff. However, I don’t like the introduction of the automatic ‘service charge’ at checkout. I realise it can be deducted but this can leave the customer feeling uncomfortable. I am happy to tip but I object in principal to this charge being automatic and believe ‘tipping’ or not should be left to the individual to give to whomever they feel deserves it. The hotel should pay their staff enough for this not to be necessary. I’m sure hotels such as the Mayfair make enough profit to do this! By adding charges such as this and not including it in the up front room rate feels like some sort of VAT avoidance scheme."
