“Room I thought was dated, room & bathroom layout strange, although radiators were off & windows opened room was too warm. At least bed was comfy. Breakfast was fine plenty of choice.”

“Had a light large room with en suite, if you want fancy then this is not for you, the couple running it are very easy to talk to and very pleasant and helpful, breakfast was good, right in the centre of town. ”

“I was pleasantly surprised with my room at the Clarendon, which was brighter and nicer than expected. Everything was nice and clean and I enjoyed the partial sea view. The bed was a little hard for me, but others may appreciate such a firm bed. The young lady on reception was very kind, friendly and helpful. I especially liked the free parking, which is pretty rare in seafront hotels and I noticed when looking out of my window at night that it was very brightly lit, which is very comforting.……

“Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice room with ensuite. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits available. Great choice at breakfast, including those, like me, who only want a continental breakfast. We dined in the attached restaurant both nights and the food, and service, was very good. We arrived by bicycle and safe storage was provided. All in all great value for money and highly recommended.”

“Good location. Friendly & welcoming staff. Great views of the bay from our room which was lovely & spacious. Stairs only to access rooms so beware if you have heavy or large luggage. À la carte breakfast was good quality. Convenient with the onsite bar & restaurant. We stayed during the week so no problems with noise. Car park is in a back lot & very small. ”

“Excellent stay. Room clean and comfortable. Room didn’t match the picture with a separate shower cubicle but the bath did have a shower head attachment so it wasn’t an issue. It is an old property so don’t picture everything to be perfect but again nothing affected the stay. Restaurant was good with main and special menus. The breakfast was excellent and included with the price so overall it was excellent value. Would definitely recommend.”
