"Incredible experience! Delicious meal, and Gora Hanougi was super accommodating to an allergy request (although do read their limitations!) I really appreciated the clear communication prior to staying there and it really set me at ease. I was personally a bit nervous about the Kaiseki meal as someone who is not very into seafood (with a partner who eats everything) but I had plenty I could still enjoy (and braved a few things too!) SO good. Room and open air bath was fantastic. We got some fog and rain and it was still magical."

"Hotel was great and really enjoyed the onsen being on site. Beautiful views of Mount Fuji! If you have an early train, be sure to book a ride well in advance with the hotel or you may have issues finding a ride. I would also recommend using your own luggage delivery service and not the one provided by the hotel. Sagawa broke our suitcase and we spent the next 3 days in our new location dealing with it."

"This is more than a hotel, it's like being in a dream of relaxation and beauty. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Our room in the annex was gorgeous with every amenity we could have asked for, the tub was perfect, and breakfast in the morning was delicious. As we soaked and in the morning during breakfast, we gazed out on the mountains as the storm passed, and it was like being in a beautiful film. I can't compare this hotel to anywhere else I've ever stayed. It's is utterly unique and truly perfect."

"The Onsen (hot spring facilities) was fantastic, especially after a long journey. Breakfast and dinner buffet were excellent. Mostly Japanese food but there are a few choices for those who don't like Japanese food. For me, the meals were great. Sushi, Sashimi, lots of different choices. A true test of Japan. Never had the same thing twice as there were too many choices. Not to mention they had beer, sake and some other alcohols available as part of the buffet. Didn't see anyone abusing the access which is good. The only thing to mention is if you are traveling from Tokyo and are returning there, it would be good to only take a smaller portion of your belongings (send your larger cases to your next hotel) as the rooms are not equipped with closets or drawers so you will be living out of your suitcase. Really wasn't a problem with our two large suitcases. Nice walking path in the back of the facility. Strongly recommend taking a taxi or uber from the train station with your suitcases. We road the bus there which was standing room only along a a very twisty mountain road, OVERALL - WONDERFULL"

"A beautiful and serene place to stay. This is a relaxed town, which means that things shut down. So, load up on snacks for the room. The onsen experience was new to us but relaxing. Also, the man at check in has to be the hardest working and most accommodating person I’ve ever met. Highly communicative via WhatsApp. Would drop everything to drive us back and forth to town."
