“We upgraded from a cosy room to a superior room. The room itself was lovely, though quite small and the bathroom had a roll top bath. The room was extremely clean and the decor was lovely. However, I would say that there was little space to put any of our things, little surface space in the bedroom and the bathroom. Our room was on the top floor; we were asked before arrival whether we had an problem with stairs, and there were quite a few levels to go up so be aware of this. I do have one……

“We stayed in a family room which was clean and close to the beach, with some restaurants around. There is no USB socket in the room so need to bring your own sockets to charge your phones and devices. Pillows are too soft. Breakfast was included, with cold and cooked buffet for selection.”

“We booked The Relais Cooden beach via Expedia particularly for its location and spa facilities. We had booked the "Cosy double room" because that was all that was left. On arrival we tried to book spa treatments but there were no available bookings during our three night stay. This was disappointing as there was no mention on the Expedia website that you needed to book in advance. Apparently, guests who booked directly with the hotel enjoyed free use of the spa whereas booking through Expedia……

“Visited as we had a family funeral with the wake being held at the Bannatyne hotel. As a family we couldn’t recommend it more, we were given a room upgrade which was lovely. Breakfast was excellent with great choice for everyone. Would definitely stay again.”

“My fiancée and I stayed at The Alfriston during the last weekend of half-term. The welcome was pleasant, and we appreciated the complimentary glass of wine.
Unfortunately, almost every part of the stay had issues. Our room was small, overlooking the spa pool, with fairly standard amenities.
Dinner was disappointing. The sole server was friendly but repeatedly forgot our order. Drinks took 20–30 minutes to arrive, the rosé was served warm despite which is quite bad when it costs £12–15 a glass.……
