The Mia reef was an absolute positive experience. The staff were so nice and wonderful and accommodating rooms were pretty good for being an older hotel. The water is what you go for and it does not disappoint. Small buffet, but food was delicious. We definitely will be going back again.

The room was nice and the view was beautiful, I doubt there is a room with bad view. The food and drinks were alright, but my favorite was the sea food restaurant. We were lucky we only had algae in the sea 1 day out of 4. It was very close to a shopping and restaurant center which was fun to explore at night.

We rented this place mainly for the beach. It is by far the best on the island, incredible is the only word to describe it! Good snorkelling a few steps into the water & shallow so you can float & chill for hours in crystal clear water. The rooms are run down but very clean daily. Our air conditioner didn’t work & they moved rooms for us. We were disappointed on our arrival bc the pictures on the website & Expedia are not what we got. All the pics have incredible full ocean views & ours was on the 4th floor so had a partial ocean view that you couldn’t see from the deck sitting. They moved us to the other side of the hotel as all the back ones have full ocean views & are beautiful as on Expedia. It would be nice to put full or partial ocean view as this would be more accurate. The staff were helpful in accomodating this 2 days later when a room was ready. Great showers! Beds are reasonably comfortable. Food was subpar. Good breakfast buffet & the Mexican restaurant was a 5/10. The grill was less than 5. The ceviche bar open all day was delicious. We ate fish, shrimp & octopus tacos every day! Staff are all incredible. Tip well, they deserve it!! They work hard!! Lots of loungers & we never had a problem getting some anytime of the day! You ask staff for an umbrella & they set it up where you want it. The most annoying thing the first few days was the staff trying to sell memberships to the resort. They are very pushy & follow you around. We were firm & they laid off.

The beach and views were 10/10. The hotel, villas, service and food were below par. I wouldn't go back. Moldy curtains, broken locks, shabby room conditions and unless you're a member the beach service is practically non existant. Front desk staff were not helpful. No running water or ability to flush toilet between 12am and 6am for our entire 2 week stay, and staff never answered us or got back to us even though we inquired about it 3 times. The buffet staff were great, food not so much. Just a complete letdown for the amount of money spent.

Incredible location! The beach and scenery was absolutely breathtaking and the view from my room was spectacular. The rooms are a little tired and worn, but you don’t spend a lot of time in them anyway. staff were so kind and attentive food and drinks were fantastic. We will definitely be back.

Room was clean, staff was fabulous, and the other guests were lots of fun. Because it is a small resort, it was easy to make new friends. Highly recommend the cevicheria bar. Fantastic food! The Mexican restaurant was good too. Order the taco trio. Storage in the rooms is an issue. Beds and the linens are great. And I’m fussy!

Rooms were clean. JC took the best care of us on the beach. A little more variety of food would have made the trip even better. The Mexican restaurant is lacking salsa and a bigger variety of Mexican cuisine.

Staff support was lacking. We didnt have water for 3 hours one night after a long day at the beach. There was never any hot water to shower in. Alcohol was terrible. Food was ok.

For being the oldest resort and surviving 2 major hurricanes Mia Reef is still a beautiful and well maintained resort. I’ve read reviews that complained about the rooms being out of date, the room was beautiful and clean and we weren’t there for the room. If I had a complaint about the room it would be the bed, small for a queen and rather hard, but we slept so….Couldn’t even tell you if the tv worked lol. We came for the atmosphere and the beach and the ocean and those did not disappoint. The staff was always friendly and welcoming and helpful. We ate at the buffet for several meals and the food was always good, maybe not always “Hot” but never cold ! We have already decided that we will go back and probably try out the villas next time, but we will definitely be going back.

Everyone is so nice! We did get the 2nd to worst view, but the staff and everything else is so amazing I won’t doc a star for that. I would just make sure to ask to not have rooms, 4017 or 3017. We have stayed here before and know the villas are the best, they were just booked already at the time.
