"This was our first trip to the area, but we will definitely return. The staff was very helpful. There is no breakfast available on-site, but there is a gas station next door that offers motel guests a $13 breakfast. It was very quiet and offers an excellent sunset view. Our door was a bit of a nuisance as it was at times difficult to lock and to open. Close to the Big Bend National Park, Terlingua, and Lajitas - we even drove to Presidio. The drive felt like we were on a roller coaster!!"

"Very clean and quiet area. We had a fantastic trip and would definitely stay again. Only thing that surprised us was that the casita is split in two separate buildings- kitchen and living area are one then there is a covered patio that sits between that area and the other building which has the bedroom and bathroom. So if you are traveling with more than two people, in our case we had our 13 yr old granddaughter with us, their sleep area is in the living area and so she was completely alone( which she was thrilled about) and the walls are thick enough to where you won’t hear anything outside. The star gazing is fabulous from the property!"

"We had a great time and really enjoyed the seclusion & quiet of the location. As with any place in Big Bend, you must be prepared to drive! Michelle was great at communicating with us…..we truly appreciated that. ie…She reminded us of last stop for groceries is Alpine & where we would lose service in our travels. Michelle & Mark have a great welcome book that covers everything!!! One tiny thing - NOT a complaint - that could be a little better is the shower pressure. Otherwise, everything was great, clean, in working order & comfy. Oh, and plenty of extra blankets - I’m naturally cold & appreciated that."

"This place is amazing!! The house is clean and comfortable with all the amenities, but the VIEW from the wraparound porch…pictures don’t do it justice. They also have this sweet little trail behind the house, washers, and an outdoor seating area to stargaze. Hosts were friendly and responsive with lots of good information. A couple of tips; it’s remote and off the beaten path…you have to go down 3 miles of bumpy dirt road but it’s worth it (you are in the country and there are lots of dirt roads). Also, relax and enjoy the hilly, mountainous scenery, but be aware of your surroundings because you may see some cool wildlife! On our final day, we saw a bear walking down the trails behind the house. He paid us no mind and it was wonderful to experience that.If you want a trip to Big Bend, this is a perfect location. We plan on coming back!!"

"Our stay at Casita de Chiles was absolutely incredible and became one of our favorite trips we've ever taken. Mark and Michelle were amazing hosts and truly made the experience special. You can tell they genuinely care about both their guests and their property. The location was exactly what we hoped for — peaceful, remote, and completely off the beaten path. We were surrounded by breathtaking views of the Christmas Mountains and spent our nights under some of the clearest skies we've ever seen. The stargazing alone was worth the trip. The wildlife experience was unbelievable. During our stay we saw deer, quail, javelina, Mexican cardinals, bats, scorpions under UV light, a tarantula, and even a rattlesnake. It truly felt like stepping into another world. A major highlight was the excursion with Mark and Michelle. We spent about 6.5 hours covering roughly 52 miles exploring Terlingua Ranch. They showed us incredible canyons, beautiful views, and hidden places we never would have found ourselves. It felt less like a tour and more like spending the day with friends. And we can’t forget Chula, who completely stole our hearts. If you want peace, adventure, wildlife, dark skies, and a chance to disconnect and recharge, this place is perfect. We’ll be talking about this trip for a long time and hope to return."
