Gwent Cheap Hotels

"Stain on bed sheet, holes in the side of the plastic around bath, ceiling peeling, scaffold going up early in the morning on first and last day, only outside our room which we were not warned about. Not a fun wake up call. Food was overpriced for the quality, seemed only one young lad was actually working, clearly was overstressed. Pools ceiling has a hole in it, only had the lights on the bed dresser and a fake fire as light in the actual room. One light fitting had no bulbs in it. "

"I would not recommend this hotel. We were so uncomfortable we left after 15 minutes and checked into a premier inn in Cardiff which was miles better. Just avoid!"

"Have stayed before and was very pleased. Lovely big rooms which are clean. Staff really pleasant at check in. Issues were only 1 towell in the bathroom in a room for 2 people so had to search around and a spare was in the wardrobe, no shower gel in the shower. Annoyingly, and not the hotels fault someone had set the alarm on the tv for 7am so we were woken by the tv switching itself on. Breakfast was really poor. There was no milk for drinks or cereal, we waited over 15 minutes for some to arrive. The coffee machine was not really working, they had run out of some of the hot food, juice and croissants and these were not replenished. There appeared to be a real shortage of staff for the breakfast so no one to really ask. The hotel was good value overall and rooms were great but was disappointed with the stay this time which was a shame as I have recommended it previously."

"The room was beautiful and spotless however some of the furniture was a little worn but it added character. They had the tea and coffee box well stocked and not with just the standard tea and coffee but with the flavoured tea and decaf coffee plus they had shower gel, shampoo and conditioner as well as if you had forgotten anything you could ask for a guest pack (toothpaste, toothbrush, razors etc). On our first day we had and issue with the iron leaking, light blinking and not warming up so contacted reception and a brand new one was delivered to our room immediately. What we weren't made aware of is there was a £50 deposit upon arrival (not including what we had already paid for staying there). The staff are very friendly, they had live entertainment on Saturday night and there's 3 ways to eat at the hotel (room service, Ribs grill and bar food). Thank you for the comfortable stay."
