“I booked a two-single-beds room and brought my small dog with me. There was plenty of parking available, and the check-in process was smooth and quick. The room was not modern in design, but it was tidy and clean. Both air conditioning and a radiator were installed. There was no bathtub, only a shower, but the bathroom was clean and well maintained. The bed was a little too soft and did not provide enough support for me. All the staff were helpful, nice, and friendly. Dogs were not allowed in……

“Very disappointing stay – would not recommend I stayed at Mercure Haydock for two days and unfortunately the experience was extremely poor. The biggest issue was the broken bed. One side was broken and every time we moved it made an extremely loud noise. It was also very uncomfortable and made sleeping difficult. “The host was there to greet us which was nice and gave us a tour of the property. The room we stayed in was clean and very spacious and had a lovely big bathroom ( maybe consider a rail in the shower to hold on to) as well as a big sofa in the bedroom to chill. There is not kettle in the room however it's a short walk to the communal kitchen for to make a cuppa or food. Your allocated a shelf in the fridge to store food. We had 2 chihuahuas with us and they had a lovely space to run about as……

“A nice overnight stay in a very god location. Room comfortable and clean with good amenities. Interior is dated but adequate for the needs. Ample parking too. The exterior could be more appealing but again adequate for the needs of the hotel.”

“Had a very good stay at The Royal Albert, keypad entry to entrance stairwell and room, recently decorated staircase to room on second level no lift. The room was very clean and comfortable with modern bathroom both recently renovated with tea and coffee facilities , all that we needed. Only downside was that we stayed on a Saturday night and breakfast wasn’t available until 11.30 the following morning which didn’t fit in with our plans. “Room and amenities were ok but rooms were too close to a busy main road! Window needed to be kept open because hot in the room - so noisy! It didn’t help that the Bin lorry visited about 9.30 pm ish and bins were being dragged to be emptied and in the morning-7am ish to be put back in place !!!”

“Friendly staff. Upon arrival, there isn’t a person permanently at the check-in desk…not really a problem, but if there was a sign directing newcomers to the bar for assistance, that would help. I wish there were fridges in the rooms. But the shower was great, room was clean, and a kettle for tea/coffee worked great. And the food available at the attached pub is excellent. Just be careful as the pub is popular and while there is plenty of parking for residents, it’s shared with the pub. And the……
