“The house was, very clean and well decorated; furniture and carpets were sumptuous and kitchen has most things we needed, including a lovely well stocked Nespresso machine, a welcome basket with 2 packets of crisps and 2 single packets of biscuits. The issues we had was there was no shelving in the shower to add toiletries, no toilet roll holders and no towel holders and nowhere to put your clothes whilst showering. It was a trek in to town up and down the hill, for those people who have any……

“The host has clearly invested a lot of money into the property, and the cottage is very cosy, tastefully decorated, and conveniently located. However, we were advised by the host that, as long as my parents were able to use stairs, they shouldn’t have any issues. In hindsight, I would recommend being particularly careful if staying with young children, older people, or anyone with balance or mobility issues. The stairs are narrow and steep, with a twist at the bottom as you enter the living……

“This is not a luxury house. Cheap second hand uncomfortable furniture, a smelly oven that may not have been cleaned for years (if ever???) and crockery that we needed to wash before we used it. We are not fussy people, but clean and comfortable should be a bare minimum.... Worst of all though was a chirping smoke alarm on the first floor landing, indicating a dead battery. On closer inspection, there wasn't even a battery fitted!! I offered to replace it if the owner couldn't arrange it for……
