What was unique? The fact that I booked a property in June deliberately near Wembley stadium for an event in London in September and Expedia / Vrbo seem to think it’s acceptable to give the host until 4pm on the day of arrival to not get in touch with any arrival information and then say they will offer something else on the day. Guarantee that would not be near stadium (my only pre-requisite, hence June booking), travel across London late on the day of event. Travelling with my wife and young daughter to gid knows what squat like accommodation they would find at last minute.
Once booked expedia pass booking on to another company (Vrbo) who say to use their app, but only half the details for your booking make it across and when you phone them they send you round in a circle between contact Expedia who say contact Vrbo etc.
In my case despite chasing for entry details from the Wednesday before our trip I (not Expedia or Vrbo) finally got through to the host on the day who said that property was no longer available despite the fact I had booked, paid and had confirmation. (I suspect at somepoint between booking in Junes for £148 and September he realised there was boxing on at Wembley and decided to re-let the property for a higher price - and just thought he wouldn’t bother telling me!
Just book a hotel. You’ll end up doing this anyway, as we did, so do it ahead of time and have the peace of mind / save a few quod from paying on the day rate!
