「We had a very disappointing stay at this hotel and have yet to hear back from a Manager regarding the numerous complaints we had with the service experienced. To begin with, I will note the positives: Clean room Friendly staff Beautiful views Now the negatives: Upon checking into our room at 7pm (following a telephone conversation had earlier in the morning regarding our children and dog joining us) we discovered that the extra beds were not in our room ready for our children to sleep on....

「Beautiful location for this really special place to stay. We had two night here. Although we didn’t have great weather, it hardly altered as the hotel has lots of cosy places to sit and look out on the truly stunning gardens. The staff were incredibly friendly and kind. Thank you to whoever found my husbands watch and called us so we were not too far away to come back for it! Another highlight is the hotel’s own soap products which smell amazing and are available to buy. Sadly they had run out...

「Darren at reception was really lovely, the lady who served us breakfast in the morning was very lovely and accommodating. The hotel dog ran up to us barking as we were leaving, which was a bit alarming. The bedroom was simple and clean. Unfortunately the hotel has an awful smell, even in the bedrooms, like damp or mouldy carpets. A bee was in our room, luckily my husband was able to get it out. I appreciate it is an old historic building, but a deep clean and refresh of the carpets might help.」

「A beautiful place, delicious breakfast though items were missing like bowls, spoons, milk, beans, sausages. We thought about going to get the milk for them. Disappointingly the steam room was out of order. Sadly, they no longer serve dinner but do offer small plates. The staff are fab, though one very noisy waitress at breakfast bashes things as she clears up. There’s a fire to warm you on chilly evenings. Enjoyed the games on offer with our nightcap. 「3rd time staying here - love the house and position is great to explore the lizard. Damp was really bad this year - walls were wet and mouldy in places and kitchen cupboards very musty - cleaners were great coming out and cleaning up some of the mould. Probably damp build up if it had been shut up for a while. But we always enjoy our stay - beds comfy and loads of room for our family and little dog 」
