"I travel a lot and I don’t recall ever rating a hotel or apartment this poorly. The position is undeniably great and the view from the deck is spectacular. However this did not make up for the poor standard of the apartment itself. The furniture appeared to be from a junk shop - not only old but mismatched, uncomfortable and dirty. The bed in the main bedroom was beyond hard. I couldn’t sleep on it and had to fold a duvet up to place under the sheet to make it softer. The bed covers were dirty and thin - looked like they were decades old and unwashed. The kitchen amenities were poor- again mismatch of odd pieces. No dish cloth to wipe the counter tops. Apart from the location and lake view the only redeeming feature was the bathrooms that were quite nicely renovated. Read the reviews on other websites (I hadn’t seen these when I booked!). Disappointing, and poor value for money."

"The hotel is right on the lake and our room had a lake front balcony that provided stunning views of the lake and the mountains. The pool is a great amenity. The room was spacious and cheery. The staff that greets you is excellent. A shout out to Captain Roberto, who provides private lake tours by boat. My only negative is the restaurant. The dinner menu is very limited and the staff, while well meaning, was incompetent. Of 4 meals we had there, something went wrong with 3 of them, including sending back a steak that was ordered medium rare and was delivered well over done. It was replaced by a steak that was merely seared and uncooked. I should have sent that back as well. In other words, avoid the restaurant."

"This hotel does not have much of amenities. They offer a Buffett breakfast which we did not purchase. They have no restaurant or pool. But the location is everything. We had the most beautiful view of Menaggio and the plaza has everything Menaggio offers. The room was modern, well kept and clean. There is NO public beach in Menaggio outside a horrible area where the locals park their RVs and it does not look safe. You need to pay and reserve a day at Victoria’s Beach, a superb renovated facility that offers Lake beach access, dinner, swimming pools, volleyball courts, etc. for a fee. Parking is VERY limited and a struggle to find for $1 EU per hr, 8a-8p on the street. Overall, we loved our stay and we would come back with specific intentions pre-planned."

"The pool lounger system is the one major flaw here, and it needs fixing. Guests go out around breakfast, leave belongings on loungers, and effectively reserve them for the entire day - often while the loungers sit empty for hours. At peak times, this creates long queues, and you can expect to wait 1-2+ hours for a lounger (even though many sit empty) simply because others are hoarding spots. Management needs to enforce a clear time limit for unattended loungers and stop guests from “saving” chairs for friends or family who are not actually at the pool. The current setup is frustrating, unfair, and well below the standard of the rest of the hotel. Pool service also needs improvement. Food was delivered to the wrong guests several times, and some of our orders were incorrect. That said, we had an amazing stay overall. The rest of the property is excellent: restaurants and bars are lovely, the food and drinks are great, and the concierge, front desk, restaurant, and wider hotel staff were attentive, professional, and clearly experienced. This is a beautiful hotel with excellent service in most areas, but the pool operation is a serious weak point and should be addressed."
