“On arrival first room the a/c was not working - moved to another room told the a/c would be set up before we returned from an evening out. On our return the second a/c was also not working and a fan had been set up in our room. Considering it was the hottest bank holiday ever we spent a very uncomfortable night in our room and was very relieved to leave early morning.”

“Unfortunately for us we arrived later in day and upon returning to our room later that night we found our bed was unclean.Also we had opened wardrobes to look for more pillows to find the previous visitors used socks. Staff were helpful in moving room but not ideal circumstances.”

“Friendly staff at check in. Given a piece of paper per room for times of pool etc … does this change frequently? not very environmentally friendly to print it out each time for each room. Went to use pool and sauna etc to hear one of the staff moaning that a child had poo’ed in the children’s pool and it was now out of action and on top of that the steam room had packed up and no staff. We did use the adult pools and sauna which were fine. We did not eat at the hotel but came back for……

“The view of Winchester Cathedral from my bedroom was amazing. All of the staff were extremely helpful and positive including promptly resolving air temperature issues in my room. The room was spotlessly clean. But the room felt rather tired with scratched and battered furniture and a dated bathroom. The decor in the bar and restaurant did not reflect the historic location of the building and seemed very generic and unimaginative”

“Lovely place in a stunning setting, would have without a doubt been 5 stars across the board until we went for breakfast. Food was very nice, but we were sat at a table that wasn’t the best situated and felt a bit close to others when better tables were available and offered to other guests but not us. Table hadn’t been cleaned properly and there were marks on the glass. Getting the attention of staff was an issue and I didn’t want to bring this up in front of other paying guests. We then sat……

“Beautiful property and had an amazing visit. Pity the property doesn’t have Aircon in the rooms. With the current heatwave it made it very hot inside the building . I understand it’s because it’s an old historical building and there are restrictions.”
