Ocean view and pools below...great vista. Unfortunately, a little noisy in late hours 2200-2330h a few nights from a particular bar off the hotel grounds but...we travel with ear plugs. "Our stay at the Pestana Carlton Madeira Ocean Resort Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and professionalism by the staff, who went out of their way to make us feel at home.
The hotel’s location is perfect—just a short walk from Funchal’s charming center, yet peaceful and right on the ocean. The views from the rooms and terraces are breathtaking, especially at sunset. We particularly loved the choice of swimming pools: the large sea-water pool with direct access to the ocean was a highlight, while the indoor heated pool provided the perfect retreat in the evenings.
Breakfast was outstanding with a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries, and local specialties. Every meal we had at the hotel was beautifully presented and delicious, with attentive service to match.
The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, offering all the modern amenities while still maintaining a relaxed, island atmosphere. The beds were especially comfortable, ensuring we woke up refreshed each day.
