"If you go to Hakone and have the opportunity to stay at Fujiya Hotel, I recommend it. It’s special because it’s an old building with so much history. Dinner at the French restaurant was very special, and the Japanese breakfast was in a beautiful setting. The gardens are beautiful too. If you like the idea of staying somewhere with history, I definitely recommend it. The room was very comfortable. If I go back, or if friends ask me where to stay in Hakone, I’ll recommend Fujiya. It’s one of those hotels you remember. The only small suggestion I would make is regarding restaurant reservations. When I first asked about dinner, I was told there was no availability and room service was suggested. After I asked again, the staff member did call another restaurant and was able to make a reservation for me, which I appreciated, although it wasn’t the French restaurant I wanted to try. Later, another staff member was able to accommodate me at the French restaurant, and I’m so glad they did because dinner there was one of the highlights of my stay. I completely understand the hotel was very busy, but as a hotel guest traveling alone, I think a little more flexibility in exploring the options from the beginning would have made the experience even better. Everyone else I interacted with was very kind and helpful."

"The hôtel is wonderful! Every detail has been carefully considered and crafted using high-quality materials. The lounge, with snacks and drinks, adds to the hotel experience. Unfortunately, the dining room left us with mixed feelings regarding the dining experience. We made requests that were not honored. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the staff's attitude changed, and our dining room experience became unpleasant. It's a real shame because, although the hotel is extraordinary, I would hesitate to book again."
