“Wonderful hosts whom made us a late request dinner. Rooms were clean and neat and everything was well decorated and functioning. A very nice breakfast as well. A minute to the ferry to Isle of Mull giving plenty of time for a day exploring Duart castle and Tobermorey. Highly recommend!”

“The room was VERY small. So if you’re on a longer visit with lots of luggage the room we were in (#2) would not be able to accommodate you and your luggage. We asked for a king bed but it was a queen and there was no AC on an unusually warm weather day. We were on the first level so the guests who were in the rooms above kept pacing overnight and the noise was loud and prevented us from getting any sleep. The young woman who was our server at breakfast 6/23 was rude and unpleasant which has not……

“We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Matthew is a wonderful host, and we felt welcome in his home. The breakfast offerings were top notch, and our room and bed were so comfortable. The location was perfect for a day trip to nearby Oban, which should not be missed, particularly for the seafood and Oban Distillery tour. “Our room was beautiful, cozy, clean, and we'll decorated. The staff were so nice and accommodating despite a flight change that left us checking in late and very hungry. They made us sandwiches and we're so kind. The location is wonderful and the property grounds are nice. Excellent breakfast. The continental was very well stocked and the menu items were delicious.”

“Simple but comfortable room. We had tea and coffee to make and a small but functional ensuite. The property is close to good pubs and restaurants and was a good spot to stay at a good price. We paid to park Accross the road.”

Our hostess started us off in the morning with a delightful breakfast, good cup of coffee and good advice or directions to our days activities. She made sure we enjoyed ourselves. “This accommodation is very remote. But really nice. The rooms are large and clean with nice en-suite facilities and the dining room - in an extended sun room - is spacious and comfortable. Very well run by a lovely couple we enjoyed our stay. Take dinner here - it’s very good value and enjoyable.”

“The room was the best we had on our trip. It had shampoo, conditioner, soap in both the sink area and the shower. There was cold water and milk in the refrigerator and coffee/ tea. There was also a heated towel rack and great big towels. They also provided a shower cap. It was large enough that you could both move around the room. Highly recommend”

“This is close enough to Oban but still far enough away ... you felt like you were getting both a bigger city but also a cute hotel on the water. The restaurant/pub made it feel so cozy and the rooms were good and meet all the needs. It felt very comfortable.”

“Both elevators were out at one point, the staff couldn’t check me in even minutes earlier than the 3pm guideline,and the whole ‘meal thing’ felt weird about inclusions or exclusions. Pay to park (but only 10 pounds) for two nights - but still…great location for rail or ferry, but the staff couldn’t check use an upgrade. PS. Why are the damn hallways so narrow to your room? I could barely get by a maids cart…seems like the fire regulations would be wider. Narrowest I have ever seen in any hotel.……
