"The penthouse suite was amazing. The night we arrived, I went out onto the private balcony and just watched the sun set on the city while listening to bag pipes play from somewhere below. It was magical! The suite is laid out well and was perfect for our family of three, but be aware there are stairs throughout, including to the bathrooms. One of the couches in the living room contains a pull-out sofa, and there is a door you can shut to the living room, giving extra privacy for anyone staying in the living room. The bathrooms were spotless and the jetted tub and sauna & shower combo performed flawlessly. I think my *only* complaint on the bathroom is that the tub water never got really hot. And while everything was clean, but the walls were ready for a repaint (you could see countless marks and dings from luggage) and the carpets are due for a deep cleaning. The staff were all friendly and very helpful, and they kept fresh hot cocoa near the front desk. Anything we needed, they were happy to help with. The location of the hotel is incredibly convenient, being literally across the street from Waverly station. We took a train to another city one morning, and being so close to the train station saved us a lot of time. The food was probably the only real letdown. What we had at the hotel/cafe was not bad, but was just okay. Given the location and the amazing restaurants nearby, you have better choices within walking distance. "

"Location is goo right near the train station and royal mile. Room was clean and comfortable. Good value for the price. Breakfast was a good buffet spread but pretty expensive at 18 pounds per person. The elevators were down while we were there and we did see some questionable characters in the lobby at night, but for the elevator and stairs it required a room key. The door did close a bit slowly behind you when taking the stairs unless you pulled it shut. "

"Market hotel provided us we all we needed for a great stay in Edinburgh. Close proximity to all the sites of interest. The hotel is beautifully finished, with everything you need. Hairdryer, iron, coffee making facilities, fridge with fresh milk!! Free mini bar! Such a rarity, but so welcomed! Aircon was silent, bed so comfortable! Shower powerful and the soap, shampoo, conditioner and body cream wonderfully smelling! Food and drinks were amazing! Complimentary champagne at breakfast! That added a show of luxury to make our stay that little bit more special. Staff were so friendly! Professional and knowledgeable, they made our stay so special. Thank you in particular to Edward, David and Sneal in the Nor Loft, for making our stay so enjoyable. "
