Phoned ahead to secure a room on the lowest floor possible for a guest I was travelling with (my mother in her 70's) has a phobia of lifts. I was told that was done. When I turned up there was no rooms on this floor and they had no record of this. A member of staff came over to the lady checking us in and told us that it was her I spoke to and it should of been done, but it wasn't. They gave us a room on the 5th floor instead (stairs to 5th floor are quite a feat btw). Got to the room and the toilet didn't flush. Back to reception, now informed there were no maintenance staff so we would have to change room. But there was no other twin rooms to this floor, only on higher floors, instead we was offered a room with bed and a sofa bed. I had to accept as my mother was now becoming increasingly anxious about being given an even higher floor (also I felt rather backed into a corner with the fact it was Saturday night, where could I find another hotel at short notice). Would I have knowing paid the price I did to sleep on a sofa bed - no, did I -yes, as I didn't want to distress my mother further. Lastly thought we'd grab some food in to restaurant, only to be told they only food they serve is pizza. If you or fellow travellers are light sleepers this isn't the place, as corridor and adjacent rooms can get noisy. My summary is the hotel is adequate if you are a flexible traveller, if you have needs, this may not be right for you.
