“It was our second time staying here! Really nice resort, however the rooms could be a bit better, especially the bathrooms! Unfortunately it did make us a little uncomfortable at times. Staff were fantastic and very friendly and helpful. Food was great as well, we loved the variety! Beach was beautiful, though the seaweed became a problem later on during our stay, but the staff did everything they could to mitigate it. The time of year just poses a problem for seaweed so there was nothing anyone……

“This hotel is beautiful, surrounded by exotic plants and turquoise waters. The atmosphere is peaceful and luxurious. The only issue was that the elevator took a long time to arrive.”

“It was a decent price for the one night, however would never consider staying here for a week. Could not get towels for the beach/pool. There was an up-charge for Jack Daniels and coke ($10), way too pricey for an all-inclusive. Had an uneasy feeling at the beach due to security walking around with a night stick, questioning how safe this resort is that security does this. Been to many all-inclusive resorts Punta Cana/Cancun and have never seen this. Room itself was not bad, nice jetted bath……

“The property is stunning and ideal for a relaxing vacation. The beach was clean and perfect for long walks. However, the room safe was difficult to operate.”

“One thing that disappointed me during my stay was the hotel’s visitor policy. Guests were not allowed to have more than one person visit the room at a time, even briefly during the day. I completely understand limits on overnight guests or parties, but this policy felt unusually restrictive and was not clearly disclosed when booking. Had I known beforehand, I likely would have chosen a different hotel.”

“I received great service. Entire staff was beyond helpful even with the language barrier at times. From the front desk to the house keepers. Very polite and well mannered. I would recommend staying here again and again. Safe, friendly, clean. I even accidentally left my door wide open one day and was gone the entire day. Nothing was disturbed. Walking distance to stores. Excursions pick you up right in front of the building. It gets no better.”

“We had a wonderful time staying at Occidental for five nights. The property was spotless and exuded a serene atmosphere. It’s an excellent destination for families, as they host a Mini Disco every night. My kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The buffet was satisfactory, though it could be improved with a wider variety of food options. The hotel’s beach area is breathtaking. Our housekeeper was exceptional; our room was always spotless and fresh upon our return.”

“We stayed at Zel for one week in June 2026. Overall it was a pleasant experience, suites were quite nice, it was quiet and private. The swimming pools were ok, a bit dated where you notice some wear and tear but generally ok. If you are looking for a quiet and private vacation you won’t be disappointed.
