「Superb staff」

「easily the best place I've stayed this year. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the room was spotless, comfortable, and well equipped, and everything exceeded my expectations. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great, and the whole hotel felt well run and inviting. Fantastic value for money in a great location. I'll definitely be staying here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting the area.」

「The room was good for my one night stay over. Hotel was a a bit tired looking in places. Good for the price though and a delicious cooked to order English breakfast plus a selection of continental items too. Staff friendly.」

「I stayed here for work purposes being a short 20 minute commute to Grt Baddow. My work colleague and I were made very welcome. The place was spotlessly clean. Had a lovely bar downstairs for drinks and pub snacks and did a fantastic breakfast in the morning.. I would recommend the full English although there were alternatives, all in all I had a very good stay. I would definitely return to the Oakland if I was working in the area..」

「This hotel is in need of some serious TLC. Good location and the cooked breakfast was good for £12.50. Shower was dire and the room was very warm. When we asked if we could have fan we were told there was one in the wardrobe, that was a fan heater and made more noise than it did move air. With the windows open it was survivable if a bit loud in the room. The bed was nice and comfortable. We understand that it’s an old building so no complaints on the creaky floor and winding corridors but the...

「The bathroom was dirty, clearly had not been cleaned properly in some time, there was hair all over the floor, dirt build up around the shower tray and shower itself. Windows were also very dirty. The breakfast bag is not worth it as it’s not ready to go you have to wait 10mins for the hot part!」
