Also, the hotel has a market that you can grab coffee, food and snacks from almost anytime which makes it so convenient. The room was so neat, practical and clean. "Upon entering the hotel we were immediately in a construction zone. The floors were being redone so most of the lobby area was roped off and the floor was torn up. Construction crew was doing work so it was very loud and off putting when entering a hotel for check-in when you’re not expecting it. When I made the reservation, nothing stated there would be construction. The bellhop wasn’t the friendliest. And when I asked where the restroom was he said it was probably locked and he’d have to walk...

"First we did not get free wifi on the 17th floor. I could when I was in the restaurant and lobby, but not our room. The sad thing is nothing you can control, but I have never seen so many homeless people in my life almost on every street. Did not feel safe unless there were several of us. The city really needs to do something about the homeless. It sure takes away from your city."

"The State Hotel is a charming property. The 8th floor terrace was a great place for evening photos and a good place to unwind. The proximity to the Public Market Center was great, especially since that is where we went to get picked up for our tour bus. The downside was the large number of homeless people around the hotel. We wanted to walk around at night and this didn't feel safe to us. "
