We really enjoyed the history behind the building and how they preserved the elementary school memorabilia. The guest lounge is a wonderful option for afternoon tea or happy hour drinks. Breakfast was outstanding and all the staff were truly top notch. Would definitely go back!"

"Rooms are a bit small, we felt it more as we were a family of 4 staying in a room which was likely converted from a couple room tp room for 4 by opening sofa bed and a mattress on floor. It would have been nice to have a bigger room with proper beds instead. Staff was lovely, knowledgeable and very helpful. Breakfast was available which was an added convenience. There is daily housekeeping which is nice. Hotel is very conveniently located in downtown Gion with local attractions a stone throw away. Bus stop is about 50m away and Keihan rail line is walkable for easy commute. There is free washing machine and dryer as an added convenience. Overall a very good place for stay, if the rooms were a bit bigger to accomodate proper beds, I would have given it 5 stars."

"We had a great stay at Kyoto Granbell Hotel. Coming from Canada, we expected the room and bathroom to be quite small by our standards, and they were, but that was not a surprise and didn’t take away from the overall experience. The service was excellent, the hotel was clean and comfortable, and the food was very good. The location was also fantastic, making it very convenient to explore Kyoto and get around the area. The hotel is close to Gion and many restaurants, shops, and attractions, while still being a comfortable place to come back to after a long day. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again when visiting Kyoto."
