Incredible Place and Lifestyle

We had an amazing time during our stay at Casa Tortuga! The views from the property are immense and we were able to see breaching whales, jumping rays, and lots of reef fish just off the beach. Responsive hosts and a great property manager this place has it all!

Perfect getaway

Brian and Lucy happened to be on the premises during our stay. They are wonderful hosts and very accommodating. The casita is cozy, clean and right on the beach! We rented an ATV and explored Los Barriles

We can’t say enough about this beautiful spot. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here. The sunrises in the morning were beautiful, and the whale show in front of our casita was amazing . Brian and Lucy were lovely people and great to deal with. We will definitely be going back

It's really cool to be so close to the surf but if you don't like that you might not like it here. Oh, Pickleball is very close and very fun. We loved it and felt the owners were very kind, attentive and helpful. Thank you Brian and Lucy

Great casita, great location

Steps away from the beach and the casita was light, airy and for warm nights has AC for the bedroom. We knew the location was near the end of the main road so it was a very quiet and private location. It's Mexico so there were some minor issues but, Jose, the property manager, worked to get them fixed right away which is the true test of any rental and they came through with flying colors. The owners were great to work with and the stay was way to short.

Casita Tortuga - Stunning views and perfect location!!!

Brian and Lucy, thank you so much for being such lovely/generous hosts and for sharing your beautiful beachside casita with us! In all our years of traveling, Casita Tortuga is definitely our favorite spot! The casita was spotlessly clean, perfectly equipped, and has the most gorgeous views of the Sea of Cortez. It is the perfect destination for a couple looking to get away from the busy crowds of Cabo San Lucas to relax and a prime location for exploring the many beauties and hidden beaches located on the East Cape. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunrise each morning from the front porch along with the sights and sounds of watching the mobula rays jump, twist, turn, flip, and flop atop the bay each day. We were even lucky enough to watch a humpback whale one morning just offshore as it repeatedly slapped the water with its large flippers. The kayaks were a perfect complement for exploring the crystal-clear waters and paddling out along the shore was definitely one of the highlights from our trip. Unfortunately, the days went by way too fast, and now we’re left dreaming of when we can come back for another visit.

What a find!

I can’t wait to go back! We had a wedding in Cabo and because of the distance I decided to make a vacation of it and wanted to go beyond the typical resort area of Cabo/San Jose. Los Barriles is a wonderful little town that is still small, but has all amenities you’ll need. Swimming in the bay is absolutely lovely, but besides goggles you must have water shoes. I’m not a wuss, but there are soooo many rocks to walk across before getting in the water that it’s almost impossible without shoes. The casita is very comfortable and great hosts! I usually travel with my Vitamix for juicing and smoothies, but no need as they have a solid blender and most everything you’ll need to cook your meals. A fantastic spot for sunning and for a reset!

Our favorite vacation paradise!

Casita Tortuga is our new favorite vacation destination. It is well equipped, comfortable and has the most amazing views of the Sea of Cortez ! We watched whales breaching directly in front of the Casita, pelicans and osprey fishing and the most spectacular sunrises possible – all from the patio! We met several people who live in Los Barriles regularly, and four of them separately told us that Casita Tortuga was the best spot on this entire stretch of coast…and we believe it! Because of the uncertainty related to COVID, we communicated with Brian and Lucy quite a bit. And each time, it felt as if we were talking to old friends. They went out of their way to reassure us and accommodate any changes that we might have needed. We will definitely return to Los Barriles, and we can’t imagine staying anywhere other than Casita Tortuga. Gary and Becky Heigel

Fantastic On-the-Beach Location

We just finished a MOST amazing vacation at this location. The house is adorable - the pictures show exactly what it's like. It's perfect for 2 people, but with the futon 1 or 2 kids or another adult would work fine. The owner's house is inland from the casita and he was VERY helpful with all of our questions. We got filmed some fantastic hummingbird videos at his feeder. The bonus amenities available are a great perk - the snorkeling gear, kayaks and even a kite. The kitchen is the best stocked of the 4 or 5 VBRO's we've rented. Los Barriles is a great location away from the bustle of Cabo. We ate out at a different place for dinner each night and were never disappointed. I run, and the road along the coast to Punta Pescadaro was a GREAT location to run each morning and I felt perfectly safe. We rented an ATV from town and explored a couple of local waterfalls up the washes/canyons. There are also natural hot springs that you can drive to easily. The only thing wrong was the unseasonable winds - so we were unable to arrange a boat ride of any kind - we'll have to come back next year for another attempt! If you're considering this property, book it, you won't be disappointed.

Beach front Los Barilles

Casa Tortuga was the perfect stay for my husband and I. The location and views were ideal. Very tranquil area. The water is right outside your door. The water is so calm you can easily kayak all around. If you’re looking for quiet and slightly removed from the town this is perfect. The owners were wonderful and gave us great recommendations for things to do. Can’t wait to return.

A gem for couples looking to enjoy the Gulf of California

Casita Tortuga is a charming, classy place for a couple to take in all that the Sea of Cortez has to offer just outside of Los Barriles.It's right on the water -- making it easy to enjoy the jubilant mobula rays, breaching humpback whales, sea birds, sunrise, and stars. It's also a great place from which to snorkel and kayak. For people who enjoy birding, as we do, you will appreciate that the well kept gardens and fruit trees attract a range of non-sea birds too.The hosts are responsive both before and during the stay. Our check in and check out went seamlessly.I really appreciate that the Casita is available for couples looking to rent a private place. Most VRBO homes are appropriate for 4 people, so you end up paying for empty space.We like to cook with fresh local ingredients, and appreciated that the kitchen is well stocked. I'd recommend Casita Tortuga to anyone looking for a special trip to the Gulf of California.

Beautiful, quiet spot by the sea

Gorgeous place to get away from it all, and we loved the kayaks! Definitely bring water shoes for the rocky shoreline. A/C in the bedroom works great, but be prepared to acclimate to the heat and enjoy the ocean breeze. A fan for the house or patio would be be a nice addition, but otherwise everything was wonderful! Jonatan, the property manager was super responsive and helpful, and we loved having the kitchen and grill to cook and enjoy meals to the sounds of the waves.

We loved this casita!

Our first time in the Los Barriles area and this was the perfect spot. Just right for a couple who loves a private spot with a gorgeous water view, sunrises over the water, and everything you need to explore the area and relax. Very comfortable and clean, lovely generous hosts!

Casita Tortuga review

We really loved meeting owners Brian and Lucy and staying in their beautiful house. The sunrises were breathtaking! The house and grounds were spotless and well maintained. The views from the porch are stunning. We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit the area. The ATV rental place was close to the house. We loved seeing the goats and cows that wander around!

Loved Our Stay!!!

We have stayed in many VRBO rentals over the years and the Casita Tortuga is our very favorite! The 10 days we spent there was so relaxing and it went by way too fast. We really enjoyed meeting Lucy & Brian!! They were so helpful and made us feel very welcome! Thanks for sharing your beautiful casita with us; we hope to be back soon. From the moment we stepped foot in the casita, we knew it was going to be a great vacation. It was so comfortable and relaxing. We loved the time we spent on the beautiful lanai watching the waves roll in and looking for the whales to breach. The Casita Tortuga was perfect!!!

Fall Escape

Just Beautiful

There's lots of adventure to be had nearby, but honestly just sitting on the porch and watching the ocean & wildlife can't be beat. Brian & Lucy were super communicative and helpful, the kayaks out front were fun, the bed is comfy, and all the windows have screens -- just perfect for our 5-night trip. Two things that are good to know at the front of the stay: 1. They do recycle, but not glass (so choose accordingly when making beer shopping selections). 2. There's a reverse osmosis water filter at the sink, safe for drinking. All-in a fabulous place to stay.
