Fantastic family stay but sargasso covered beach and water, NO clean up.

We loved Playa Caribe, condo was very clean and spacious for our family of 5. The location was perfect with lots of nearby attractions and dining. Fly into Tulum as it’s smaller, closer and much easier than Cancun. The ONLY negative for our stay was the amount of sargasso (seaweed). It made both the beach and ocean completely inaccessible so we had to drive to get to a beach club which kept up with the seaweed. Guests should know there is NO clean up here and it is impossible to enter the ocean or access the beach due to lack of clean up.

Walton Vacation

The property was great. We just had to deal with the smell from the sea grass so we spent most of our time at the lagoon or north of the property on the beach. People and all food was awesome. Thanks for a great place to stay.

Spring Vacation at Playa Caribe #4

We had a wonderful stay at Playa Caribe. We met our two young adult children for a week and had a lovely time enjoying the Akumal and Tulum area. It was relaxing, easy, and a great family reunion

Perfection

This condo was better than we expected. Beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The most spectacular view can be seen from every room. Property was immaculate with pool and beach steps away. Highly recommend!

The unit was immaculate with all amenities including a well stocked welcome basket with fresh fruits, snacks and coffee. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and taking in the beautiful ocean view. Finally, Augustine and the staff were very helpful in providing advice, making arrangements, and maintaining the property and keeping the sargassum at bay.

Wonderful Experience

This was our first vacation to Akumal and Playa Caribe #4 was ideal. Shari's guide to the property and many nearby excursions was extremely helpful. The condo was clean, well kept, and spacious. Additionally, Shari has a wonderful collection of Mayan art and has several of her own excellent paintings displayed as well. The building manager and his staff take excellent care of the property and each individual unit. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable place to stay as well as close proximity to many of the unique experiences that the Mayan Riviera has to offer, Playa Caribe #4 is it.

The condo was super clean and the view of the ocean was fantastic. David with Akumal Direct arranged for round trip transfer from the airport. The cleaning lady was exceptional! We only asked once during our stay but it was spotless. The air conditioning and water pressure were spot on. I have nothing but great things to say, and would recommend this condo.

Beautiful beach front condo!

So glad we were on the second floor where we enjoyed the view from our balcony every morning and evening. The condo was beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything we needed. Very well maintained. We enjoyed the beautiful pool and gorgeous beach. There were several great restaurants nearby, along with lots of activities to choose from - snorkeling and paddle boarding to name a few. We loved this place and will be back for sure!

Get away from the tourists!

We were looking for a relaxing tropical vacation, but wanted one on our own terms and not at a theme-park-like resort. Playa Caribe, in the middle of Half Moon Bay in Akumal delivered just that. The condo is beautiful and right on the sand. We had a great time exploring and snorkeling on our own and sampling the restaurants in Akumal Village and the Pueblo. We’d recommend a private tour of the Santa Cruz Cenote, the only privately-owned Cenote in the region. JP took my family and I through this amazing experience in a private setting—not a cattle call like the big resorts put people through. The pre-stay communication and the great service by Manager Agustin was fantastic. We will definitely be returning some day.

A piece of Paradise

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I have stayed in this unit many times & it is our favorite. The kitchen is well supplied for light cooking. The beds are comfy, and the unit decorated with a Mexican Zen flair. The property is well kept and has security at night. The area has some nice dining options that you can walk too. I could sit on the porch for hours just taking in the gentle waves while looking for marine life. We will defiantly be booking #4 again in the near future.

Gorgeous Relaxing Escape to Akumal

It is a perfect location right on the beach and within walking distance to shopping and a Yal-Ku Lagoon. Great infinity pool area also with a stunning view of the Caribbean from either the pool or from the balcony. The condo was very clean, has great Wifi and perfect water pressure and temperature. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you may need to cook meals in the condo. The complimentary bowl of fruit, popcorn and other snacks was a very nice touch also. Very close to many beautiful cenotes in the area also. We would highly recommend Playa Caribe, Condo #4, for your visit to Akumal.

Home away from Home

A piece of heaven in wonderful Akumal! This condo was everything we hoped it would be, and more. The photos and description are quite accurate. My husband and I spent a wonderful week here and have no regrets whatsoever. The condo was spotlessly clean, attended by maid service each day, and had everything we needed in the kitchen and condo to make ourselves very comfortable. Now… About that mind blowing view of the ocean! We could not get enough of it! When we were not watching the waves on the balcony, we were down luxuriating on the beach. After beach time we could be found one of the several nearby wonderful restaurants, snorkelling, or riding our bikes through this quaint and lovely neighbourhood. You will never regret spending time here.

Great Condo Great Location

We are hesitant to write this review because we are scared the secret of Playa Caribe #4 will get out. We have been to Akumal several times in the past 10 years and watched it change from a sleepy beach town to Akumal Bay becoming a turtle tourist trap. We were so relieved to find that Half Moon Bay has retained the charm we came to love so dearly about Akumal. The north end of Akumal is just as quiet and lovely as we remember. Shari's condo is so comfortable and beautifully appointed- from the great kitchen equipment to water you can drink out of the tap!! Her recommendations for a magical stay are spot on- Cenote Santa Cruz was our favorite cenote experience ever and the snorkeling in front of the condo is spectacular. Thank you. We'll be back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a pleasant stay in #4 Playa Caribe. The staff is great and the unit very comfortable and nicely decorated. The unit could use a few more dishes, some glasses and cups were chipped. Needs another cutting board. There were lots of containers with lids. They left a few fruits and things which was a nice touch. Beautiful views. The beach however is very short so not a lot of room with others. Only one palapa also. Nice pool too. All in all, good place but if you like to be on the beach, not the greatest pick.

Family of Four with teens

We spent an amazing 10 relaxing days in August. The condo is beautiful as described and immaculately clean. Cooking in the kitchen was a pleasure due to the sharp knives, fun dishes and almost any kitchen gadget you would need. (this is from a foodie) The maid came in daily and did the dishes, what a plus! Sharon made our first VRBO rental comfortable and easy, helping us with directions, activity ideas, and other questions. There is great snorkeling right off the beach. One of us loved the pool and we usually had it to ourselves. The only down side was entering the water on the beach is tricky due to the large chunks of choral (soft sand on the beach but not upon entering the water). Definitely bring your water shoes. Overall this place was excellent!

Playa Caribe #4 - A holiday treat in beautiful Akumal, Mexico

As great as our anticipation of our experience and the beautiful pictorial provided of Playa Caribe #4, justice was served. This place was majestic and magnificent by all accounts. Our condo was warm and inviting. We couldn't have been more comfortable in this "no place like home" environment. To wake up to the spectacular view of the beautiful sunrise out on the horizon and each crystal clear night with the stars touching the sea, it couldn't have been more beautiful. The on-site management staff was very warm and always eager to help. The cleaning staff was reliable and kept our condo and grounds spotless. We found the property location to be as good as it gets sitting in the middle of Half Moon Bay. Very quiet and peaceful. At the same time, only minutes away from all the activity one might desire without ever leaving Akumal. Our family of four really felt as though we were treated as VIPs. We truly can't wait to return to Akumal and will do everything possible to plan around the availability to once again stay at Playa Caribe #4

A little slice of tranquility

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We absolutely loved staying here. The condo is absolutely beautiful and extremely roomy for a family of 4. The light and ocean breeze coming in wonderful. My favourite was drinking coffee on the balcony in the morning, watching the ocean glimmer in the morning sunlight ...blissful? All the staff at Playa Caribe were extremely friendly and helpful. I didn’t need to contact Akumal Direct during out stay but they were very helpful answering my questions in the lead up to our trip.Half Moon Bay is the perfect place to situate yourself if you want to get away from the crowds. There were many days that we had almost the whole beach to ourselves. There was quite a bit of Sargassum during our stay and although we couldn’t enter the water near our apartment, we only had to walk along the beach for a few minutes to find the perfect spot for snorkelling we which we all absolutely loved...even my teenager. My 9-year-old loved the swimming pool and I loved the fact that I could watch him and still be able to see the ocean. I highly recommend coming to Playa Caribe

Excellent Week Spent in Paradise!

Reviewer Comments: Playa Caribe was the perfect location for our first visit to Akumal.It is centrally located in Half Moon Bay, within walking distance to great restaurants, a small market, Ya-Kul Lagoon and more. The condo itself was perfect, with a well stocked kitchen (we even had coffee!) and everything we needed for our family of four, including beach towels, coolers, and umbrellas. The beds were super comfortable, and we all loved the beautifully tiled showers with the best water pressure we have ever experienced.The staff is friendly and helpful, and our neighbors downstairs were extremely helpful with making recommendations for restaurants and activities. It’s also nice to have such ample parking on the property. Make sure to check out the rooftop patio, with the best view of Half Moon Bay. Yes, there is seaweed, but you can walk down the beach 5 houses away and snorkel in clear waters, or access Akumal Bat thru Lol-Ha Restaurant. We will be back to Playa Caribe #4!

A Vacation in Paradise!!

What an excellent week we all had! First off, I have to say that communicating with Shari was a breeze...she always answered all of my questions quickly and was very helpful. When we got there late Saturday evening, we were greeted by the security guard who took our bags up to the condo. And what a beautiful condo it is.....immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable! Our week consisted mostly of relaxing on the beach, or going to the pool, but we also took a road trip to see the ruins in Tulum which were incredible and a trip to Playa del Carmen for a little shopping. We also did some snorkelling in Yal-Ku lagoon - so much fun!! We loved that the restaurants were within walking distance from the condo. La Buena Vida, Turtle Bay Cafe and Bakery, and La Lunita were our favourites! The document that Shari provided us with, "A Perfect Week at Playa Caribe #4", was an added bonus. We referenced this document often as it gives great ideas of things to do, places to eat, and may other helpful hints (such as not speeding on the highway!). We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends as it truly is a wonderful and comfortable condo for a vacation in Paradise!!

Beautiful and clean

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really enjoyed the beautiful Villa #4. Amazing views, good communication from David the concierge. Cleaning staff was very good. The only complaint I have is that someone was in our room when we arrived at midnight. The security guard let them into our room when there was a clearly written note on the front door of the office stating my name, condo number, and that it was unlocked for us to go into since it was after hours. We got it resolved, but I would suggest a lock box system for late arriving guests to avoid confusion, and better communication between front office staff and security. Also for security purposes I would have felt safer if there wasn’t a note for the public to read with my name and room number on display. Other than this mishap we really enjoyed our stay. Be sure to close screen door on patio because a bird flew into our room and pooped everywhere! Our bad. Also renting a golf cart was a great way to get around.

Wonderful

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was my 2nd stay at Playa Caribe. I love staying there cuz the staff is amazing and I feel really safe with the nighttime security. The condo is a 5 minute walk to two great restaurants and a 20 minute walk to several more in town. My favorite is Taverna for the nummy Italian food and ambiance and coming in 2nd is Turtle Bay so I can watch NFL football! Playa Caribe #4 is the most appointed condo I have ever stayed in. Tupperware containers, bag clips, wine vac, etc. AC and WiFi worked great. Our microwave burned up and the management had a new one for us within minutes. My only disappointment is that the pictures don’t match the condo. Not a major thing. Different cushions and bedspreads, art work etc. But I was really disappointed the patio did not have a regular table with chairs. They have a nice patio set instead. I always pick units with tables so I can sit and eat outside so a bit of a bummer. Also the toaster oven needs to replaced the knobs kept coming off! It was very clean and our maid Patricia was awesome. We left dishes for her everyday!! Loved that were tables around the pool. Spent most of my time hanging out there. Been coming to Akumal for 20 years and Playa Caribe has become my favorite place to stay.
