Paradise Retreat, POOL, Hot Tub and AC with ECO energy!

Paradise Retreat is your own private resort on Hawai'i’s Big Island. Relax and enjoy the swimming pool and hot tub in our private, fully enclosed back yard. Lounge poolside in the sun-soaked chaise chairs or stay cool on the covered lanai. In the evenings, enjoy starry nights and listen for the waves crashing just a few blocks away.

The home is designed to collect the island trade-winds and naturally cool the interior, especially during the evening hours with the A/C off and the windows open. Our A/C systems efficiently cools the home during warm days, if necessary, using only solar during the day-light hours.

Our home has been recently updated, is fully furnished and stocked with linens, pool towels and all the kitchen items you'll need for cooking your favorite meals. Water from our well is filtered and UV-treated before entering the home.

Paradise Retreat has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The main bedroom suite has a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with slate tiled shower AND jetted bathtub. The two additional bedrooms share a bathroom with a bathtub and shower. One of these bedrooms has a queen size bed and the other has a king size bed. The fourth bedroom has a twin bed with an AC unit. The third bathroom is in the large laundry room near bedroom four. We provide a washer and dryer for laundry and a starter supply of laundry strips to avoid large plastic detergent jugs.

Located in Keaau just south of Hilo, Paradise Retreat is in a great place for day trips to Volcanoes National Park, Hilo, Pahoa and the heritage Hamakua Coast. Let us point you in the right direction for adventures, cultural sites and ocean activities. Our neighborhood is quiet at night except for the mesmerizing Coqui frogs. Please respect quiet hours 9pm to 8am by keeping noise levels low. If you can’t hear the Coquis, it’s too loud. Mahalo nui loa for your green choices, respecting our home, our neighbors and our Island. E Komo Mai!

Peaceful stay

We really enjoyed our stay. It was so nice to have the pool and hot tub and the house had everything we needed for cooking. It’s also quite roomy. It’s about 25 minutes from downtown Hilo, but close to other sites and beaches.

A literal paradise

I can’t imagine needing anything else than what this house provided. The house was spotless and immaculate. The outdoor space was enormous, and also pristinely maintained. The little details around the property really made it feel like home - the local artwork, the Hawaiian decor (which was so comfortable). There were plenty of extras around the house so we didn’t need to shop to get extra supplies, small condiments, aloe, beach supplies (chairs, etc). The instructions for the house were very clear and the recommendations made for places to go were spot on (we went to several of them). Overall, this is probably the most idyllic place we have ever stayed. My 7 year old loved splashing in the pool and the hot tub was always nice and warm. We will definitely be back! Loved the house so much!

Wonder home near Hilo

Fantastic property! Fully stocked with everything you need. Clean, comfortable, beautifully landscaped with a wonderful pool and hot tub. We were almost tempted to stay on the property the entire time we were on the big island. Close to Hilo, Volcanoes National Park, black sand beaches and waterfalls. The Paradise cliffs are just a few blocks away, and a wonderful place to watch the sunrise every morning. Property manager was responsive and available, They even mailed us a pair of eyeglasses that got left accidentally. Would definitely stay here again!

Property was as wonderful as the pictures show. It was great to have space to spread out and be together. The family loved having the pool and the big yard to play in as well as the hot tub. The kitchen was well stocked for at-home meals. The only slight drawback is that there was the AC didn’t extend to the two smaller bedrooms so they got quite warm/humid for sleeping.

Beautiful grounds.

A perfect home for a family of four. We split our Big island vacations in two, with our Hilo stay being all about relaxing at home, by the pool w home cooked meals. This is house is perfect for that. Half an hour away from groceries and restaurants, if needed. The pool is pretty chilly-which is great on sunny days, unfortunately we hit a rainy week so we couldn’t enjoy it to its full potential, however the tub worked wonders. Our youngest is a very strong swimmer and our oldest is a teen, so the pool size and depth was perfect for us. The neighborhood is very quiet and private. The neighbors we happened to see were all very friendly. The landscaping provides excellent privacy. A review mentioned a dog barking, and he does but it’s a small pup and it’s not an annoying bark. I heard the wild fowl more than the dog. If you love the Hilo area, this is a great spot. Only suggestion would be a lock on the gate but it’s probably unnecessary. I enjoyed the walking the grounds w my little one. It was fun.

Seclusion

Very much enjoyed our two week stay in this house. Very secluded and quiet. The geckos at night chirping was so loud and enjoyable. The grounds of the house are so beautiful. Only issue was there is no rail on the pool. Made it difficult for my wife to get in and out of the pool. Enjoyed all the local small restaurants and we also cooked too. Made for a very memorable family trip.

Paradise Indeed!

The property was clean and well-maintained. The outdoor space was a true highlight, and we spent most of our time outside! The pool, lanai, lawn, and tropical plants created an ideal lounge space in paradise. The house is stocked with kitchen gadgets, linens, puzzles, games, pool toys, and lawn games. There were even a few pantry items, so we suggest checking in and assessing what is on hand before doing any shopping. We appreciated the eco touches (like solar panels, recycling, and composting). And every interaction with the Salt Water Vacations team was excellent! They are friendly, professional, and quick to respond. We would definitely stay here again!

An Oasis!

Pulling into this beautiful driveway will give you the feeling that you have hit the jackpot! The gated property was immaculate, the pool and hot tub were better than as pictured on the listing! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for our family of 5 and the rooms were perfect. The yard is private, surrounded by a thick hedge of palms and dripping in orchards and flowers. I can’t recommend this property enough. The only downside is that our kids loved it so much they just wanted to go back to the house instead of explore lol Great trip, great place!

Great stay

Property is well maintained and clean. Stayed at the property for the annual Merrie Monarch Festival. Although it's quite a long drive into Hilo town we didn't mind at all. It was nice to stay in an isolate and quite area after dealing with the daily hustle and bustle of Merrie Monarch crowds, craft fairs attendees, shopping centers, vendors, etc. The amenity of a pool and hot tub made the decompression time way relaxing after tackling busy schedules, daily.
