I liked Playa a lot more than I expected. I thought that because it's so saturated with tourists that it would be super cheesy but it is still Mexican enough that I enjoyed it. Plus, it's nice to be in a regular town rather than just mega resorts.

Bustling & constantly growing little beach community. The constant barrage from retailers chirping you into their shops can be irritating but really, it's part of the culture and par for the course. Go north on 5th ave towards 50th for some quiet.

This was my second trip here and there are a lot of restaurants and bars with live entertainment starting from afternoons to late at night. The beaches are always crowded, so it's good for people watching. Walmart and ADO station is close by.

The Centro area is a mixture of new and old, smart and shabby - interesting to see what is around the next corner. This time of year hosts the annual Carnival and it was great to see so many happy, smiling faces with music, dancing and singing

Have been to Playa del Carmen several times. It's a good town to spend a few days. Some areas can be crowded and noisy and the beach in the central part of town isn't great. However, if you stay in the northern area it is great.

Very hot summer and sea with lots of sargassum. Nightlife for all tastes. Wonderful Mexican and international cuisine and not too expensive. Tours to Cozumel, Cenotes and Chichel Itza highly recommended.

Xel-ha park all inclusive activity was really awesome. It has multiple activities to keep you busy for 1-2 days. Beaches are clean with white sand. This place is worth visting.
